Tights! Do you find them too skinny?

I'm fed up with tights.

What ones do you buy that are too thin for you?

Which ones come out the packet too long and too thin for you?

TableFlowerss · 13/08/2020 13:48

Totally agree OP. I’m about 9st 4 and about a size 10. I get large ones do they don’t dig in so much.

I often wonder how people that are bigger than me manage. No one wants a muffin top.

audweb · 13/08/2020 13:48

Snag tights. Literally the only tights I have ever found comfortable. They are amazing.

chuffedasbuttons · 13/08/2020 14:18

I was attempting a cheeky reverse

Tights are all too short and wide for me and DD

I need to buy her some for school but we have the same problem and body shape. Though I'd love to be a size 6 Grin I'm a more normal 12.

She's a size 6 at 5'5" with an inside leg of 30" but a waist rise of 10" on top of that. 40" tights needed!

Plus skinny legs. Properly skinny. The kind that get bullied and called matchsticks.

So I want to know which tights come out the packet longer than your legs with a rise that reaches your bra!!!
Ones that are really skinny (3" or so)

These are the ones I need!

Anyone mentions M&S gets aBiscuit. They are dreadful. They are all 5" wide and 20" long.

I hate tights

Try snags. Seriously.

I have a 35 inch inside leg. They fit. I put them on on the morning, and only time I need to touch them is to go to the loo. No constant fiddling

chuffedasbuttons · 13/08/2020 14:49

Thank you!
I will

TakeMeToYourLiar · 13/08/2020 14:52

Just make sure you follow their size guide with particular attention to body shape

Pavlova31 · 13/08/2020 14:59

Never heard of Snags before .
Really impressed by the website Smile

CherryPavlova · 13/08/2020 15:03

Snags are the way to go definitely. They do tiny ones that fit my 4'11" daughter and ones that fit me comfortably (5'6") without rolling down. Lovely colours too. Too hot at the moment but I bought buy ahead vouchers where you BOGOF in November when I will undoubtedly need some,

ShowOfHands · 13/08/2020 15:04

I really struggle with most clothes. I have a short abdomen and short legs but am fairly muscular and a size 8. Trousers never fit how they should. But tights always fit. I never struggle with them. So when you are wondering whotf tights were made for, it's me. Rest easy though, other clothes never fit.

chuffedasbuttons · 13/08/2020 15:07

@ShowOfHands
That seems fair to me! And I'm
Whole heartedly reassured that the shape of tights in the shops fits SOMEONE!

Oblomov20 · 13/08/2020 15:37

Agree. I buy xxl even though I'm only 5'2''. Drives me crazy.

GoshHashana · 13/08/2020 15:37

Ah! Another stealth plug for Snag! Nice one.

Fatted · 13/08/2020 15:41

Do you know what though OP, you think all tights are for short fat people and as a short fat person myself, I think all tights are actually in fact made for tall skinny people! Especially Tesco!

I have snags, they are OK. I also have popsy ones and they are much better. My skinny sister who is a size six got some from Amazon the other day, no idea of the make though.

northernbelle84 · 13/08/2020 15:44

If you wash Sainsbury's tights in the machine with all your other washing they gradually get longer but not wider. Very much longer.

I only abuse the one brand so don't know if this property is universal across all tights Grin

Longdistance · 13/08/2020 15:47

I’m tall, I can never get long enough in the leg tights. So I don’t wear skirts anymore.

JoshLymanIsHotterThanSam · 13/08/2020 15:51

31” inside legs means they are NEVER long enough-gusset by knees anyone?

ExtremelyBoldSquirrels · 13/08/2020 15:51

I agree that tights are generally too short and wide @chuffedasbuttons. Buying a nuggets size doesn’t help with length, as they just make them wider.

I find the snag tights to be too big (even in size A/B) so they’re a bit Nora batty and they bobble so much in the wash.

QueenArseClangers · 13/08/2020 15:51

Another fan of Snag tights here.

Honestly, no more thrutching pulling up tights.
They’re really hard wearing too. I’ve ended up chucking out all my other black work tights (about 20!) and replacing them with half a dozen pair of Snag ones.

Normally rather sceptical about ‘miracle’ products but these are bloody ace.

BarbedBloom · 13/08/2020 15:52

Snag. I would never go back. They are comfortable and they even do them for super tall people like me

ExtremelyBoldSquirrels · 13/08/2020 15:54

I’ve got 32” inside leg (I’m not tall so this must be really common). I’d really like slim fitting tights that are long enough.

I tend to buy M&S tights. They’re ok but i do think they should differentiate between people who want additional width and people who want tighter fitting longer tights. They’re incompatible needs that can’t be combined in a S, M, L system.

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 13/08/2020 15:56

I love snags. I have loads of different colours. They wash well, fit well and are just great

TheReynoldsPamphlet · 13/08/2020 15:57

Yep, Snag. All the way.
Like a pp said, just make sure to follow their size guide to make sure you get the right size for you and your daughter.
I'll never go back to another brand now.

chuffedasbuttons · 13/08/2020 17:15

Ooh busy. Thanks everyone.

Genuinely not promoting snag.

I emailed Better earlier to get an insight to theirs.

John Lewis used to be fab. Perfect. But of course they changed to a cheaper manufacturer with the result I don't buy their tights anymore.

I bought Giulia tights last year from tightuk website. The fit is better but still shorter and supposed to stretch longways.
I've found but the waistband is thin and they snag too easily.

chuffedasbuttons · 20/08/2020 19:04

Snag is a huge no no for skinny legs.

They are wider than my ankles and bag.

They are lovely in all other aspects though.

Back to the bloody drawing board.

OP posts:
ExtremelyBoldSquirrels · 20/08/2020 20:12

@chuffedasbuttons I have the same issue with snag. Even the size A/B (why is this combined?) are really baggy. I can totally see that they might be really useful for people who want larger sizes without increased length. But they’re useless if you have long, skinny legs. Most tights are really.
