My phones battery is on it's way out, I currently have a IPhone 8,
it's on sim only, for the next 8 months. I need a new phone what would you buy currently?

I need one that's good at taking pictures and has good screen resolution, I have always had a iPhone though I'm debating coming away from iPhone!

I just got an SE to replace my 8 - I wanted it to be the same size as my 8 tbh, I wasn’t bothered about getting better facilities although the improved camera and speakers are good!

I did it though the Apple website, traded in my old phone for £140~ and am paying £11 a month on interest free for two years which I’m happy about.

Google pixel. Amazing camera. As good as iPhone and much much cheaper. I bought a 3a which you can still buy for about £300 I think. They do newer versions too but I liked the finger print scanner on the 3a.

I would never buy an android with another manufactur. Google make the pixel phone and they make the software for it. Like Apple do both the phone and software

Thanks, I'm looking at the iPhone XR or one of the Samsung's but I will admit I am a little nervous about going over to Android after having a apple for the last 10 years!

I wouldnt get a Samsung. Like buying a Mac laptop and running it on Windows.

SewingWaspish · 12/08/2020 16:11

Moto zoom - great camera for the price (a lot less than an iPhone)

get657 · 12/08/2020 16:11

@Sofasogood1 the main reason I was looking at Samsung was the camera!

I have an XR and am really pleased with it.

get657 · 12/08/2020 16:20

@MrsPatrickDempsey Is the camera good?

If you Google a few phones you are interested in you'll find reviews and comparisons of cameras with all of the techy detail. I'd say all cameras on smart phones these days are 'good'.

Bargebill19 · 12/08/2020 16:23

For me an iPhone. Dh has a Samsung - I cant even work out how to answer the phone if he asks me too.

TheHighestSardine · 12/08/2020 16:32

I'd get the battery replaced, and wait at least until the new wave of iPhones. That'll drop a new-condition X or even 11 into sensible prices.

IloveJudgeJudy · 12/08/2020 16:38

Don't get the XR. I've got that. DS has got the 11 and DD has got the 11 Pro. Both phones take absolutely fantastic pictures and were cheaper when they came out than the X and XR.

get657 · 12/08/2020 16:46

Ok I'm now debating between iPhone XR and the iPhone 11

The camera is great. Meets my needs. I considered the 11 - the main difference is a slightly better camera but I couldn't really justify the extra cost.

willitbetonight · 12/08/2020 18:39

I got a very good deal on an Xs for my daughter. With ee.

LongBlobson · 12/08/2020 21:07

DH has a Samsung that has lasted him for years. I find it unintuitive to use but he loves it.

I have a cheap Moto phone that I switched to from an iPhone and I found it really not much different. I bought it outright and got a sim only deal. Sooo much cheaper and I wouldn't go back to iPhones now.

LongPauseNoReply · 12/08/2020 21:10

I’ve got the 11 pro max and I adore it. I’ve come from Samsung after being allergic to Apple for years. Don’t regret the switch and I’m getting myself a MacBook soon!
