Anyone know about morgages for a contractor?

Daughter is hoping to change jobs but her contract will state she will be a contractor not an employee of the company. They will have to give her one month notice if they want her to go.

She is currently privately renting but will want to by a property towards the end of the year. She has a help to buy ISA and other money for a good deposit.

However, as a contractor will she have difficulty getting a mortgage? She will be buying alone.

Thank you.

We got our mortgage based on DH being a contractor and me not earning. DH had a company (doesn't now) but I presume your DD will be on PAYE.

One month's notice isn't that unusual in general.

Ours is an offset mortgage with Barclays.

You may need a broker. It is more difficult if you're self employed. She might want to speak to some trusted colleagues for a recommendation.

It will be quite a lot more difficult when she doesn’t even have a year of accounts to go on.

I suggest she talks to a broker about her options, it may not be doable unless she has a really huge deposit.

It is possible, but it's definitely more difficult! I would say almost impossible without at least 12 months of accounts

Thanks everyone.
She is going to speak to a broker To see what her options might be.
She hasn’t accepted the new job yet.
