Perseid meteor showers

Wow! I've just seen two shooting stars one after the other! They were like streaks of light falling out of the sky. I haven't seen this for over 20 years. Also the continual flashing from distant storms. It's amazing. Has anyone else seen any?

Where are you? I took up position to see the meteors an hour ago, southern Hants. And a band of cloud moved in! ☹️

Sennetti · 11/08/2020 23:39

last night i saw loads...tonight too cloudy

we watch every year, have done since dc were small

BooseysMom · 11/08/2020 23:48

I'm in Midlands, Worcs. I looked last year but didn't see any. I saw them this time and then it clouded over right afterwards.
Lucky star! 💫

Im in zone 4 London and have never seen one even though we try to every year. I think I need to go somewhere darker.

Bhbunny · 11/08/2020 23:55

Bit cloudy for me to see anything. Nothing quite like seeing the night sky come to life 💫

BooseysMom · 12/08/2020 00:07

Still sat here star gazing and all I'm getting now is a crinked neck! Grin

It’s been too cloudy here so far this year. We planned on sitting out tonight until the storm started.

IPokeBadgers · 12/08/2020 17:58

We're in Northern Ireland (east coast}) and we sat out for about 45 minutes last night and saw 5 meteors including one which was the biggest we had ever seen... 😁

BooseysMom · 12/08/2020 18:39

@IPokeBadgers.. that sounds awesome! We've got temp. upstairs of 30.5 and the sky has turned yellow with thunder and a sudden strong wind. The storm is coming. Maybe we won't see any more meteor showers tonight.

I’m in West Sussex, saw half a dozen last night, I think that was over the course of an hour.

BooseysMom · 12/08/2020 21:23

@nephthys.. brilliant! Grin DH still thinks I imagined it!

Morgan12 · 12/08/2020 21:25

Are they visible tonight?

BooseysMom · 12/08/2020 21:55

@Morgan12.. I think so. It's too cloudy here though.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 12/08/2020 23:17

Massive thunderstorm here tonight so no chance of seeing them as far too cloudy.

Everythingmagnolia · 12/08/2020 23:20

We seen 7 last night over Wiltshire, and 2 the night before. We are lucky that we live quite rural so there's not much light pollution. Too cloudy tonight unfortunately!

drivinmecrazy · 12/08/2020 23:32

In Spain in a country house on top of a hill. Zero light pollution and it's been incredible, best year ever I think.
Very thankful could share it with DDs. It's been a ritual for most of their childhood but possibly the last as the eldest is increasingly spreading her wings and finding her own path Sad

BooseysMom · 13/08/2020 10:51

Def too cloudy here last night and we had the mother of thunder storms too

@drivinmecrazy. . That sounds incredible. DS is too young atm to stay up but I'm hoping he'll get interested when he's a bit older. Hopefully before he spreads his wings too!
