Storm induced anxiety

Is that even a thing? We have the most spectacular thunder and lightening storm going on just now for the past hour or so and no signs of letting up and it's giving me serious anxiety. My pulse is racing and I just want to go and hide under the bed til it's over!
I think this might be the best/worse storm I've ever seen in my 30+years but is really freaking me out.

I'm actually jealous.

Spent 15 years in sub tropical Australia, and was increasingly disappointed at the lessening frequency on good storms.

LOVE a humdinger!

thesoundofthepolice · 11/08/2020 23:43

It's still going! @Miljea I think you're right, I'm sitting watching it like fireworks but part of my is telling me to hide under the bed 😂

Now amazing hailstones, we're getting battered with it all tonight!

I am so so so jealous. I'm further up north in Scotland so praying it comes our way. Windows wide open so I don't miss it 😂

I’m in Edinburgh now and also have never known a storm like it. It’s the constant rumbling thunder I’ve never ever heard before. The lightning has been spectacular. I think it starting to move away now though so hopefully we’ll get some sleep!

thesoundofthepolice · 11/08/2020 23:53

It's definitely moving off/calming down. We were woken about 4ish this morning with crazy thunder sounded like we were being broken into.
Hopefully we get uninterrupted sleep tonight.

I don't mind thunder and lightning, was quite excited when it started but it's now getting to me. I've had to get up and am watching rubbish on the tv to try and distract me. It's just been going on so long, it started here just about 8 and is still going.
My DC's who start back at school tomorrow woke up at midnight, thankfully they're back asleep but I'm up worrying. We've now got floods, our hospital car pack is completely flooded. I get you op

funkychilli · 12/08/2020 02:08

That's really weird, I love storms and I don't have anxiety issues but during the storm earlier I felt really unsettled like something was really wrong.

36degrees · 12/08/2020 02:16

I can't believe it's still rumbling on. There was a crack about an hour ago that felt like it was only metres away.

whatsthepointinwasps · 12/08/2020 02:26

Its been here a good while in Perth too. Not sure if it’s easing off though, I keep thinking it might be .......but no ....another flash. Anyone noticed how the rain gets heavier just before another bolt?
This is the biggest storm I’ve experienced for years!

imtiredandiwanttogotobed · 12/08/2020 02:37

I'm in a tent in it😬 thunder and lightening seems to have moved in but the rain and wind still going strong 😬

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 12/08/2020 02:42

It’s huge & amazing here now - Stirlingshire

The amount of lightning is extraordinary.

I so hope it’s waterproof for you!

Have a good night 🌸🌸🌸

It's still bloody going this is nuts! Seen some pics of flooding, it looks awful.

Slightly worried how I'll get on driving to work later.

Braw for kids back at school. Shock

dementedma · 12/08/2020 09:40

Well that was some night. Never seen a storm like that in all my considerable years!
