40 years ago I was married to a man who beat me and tried to strangle me. The police were so useless I didn't even try to contact them anymore but got male friends to deal with him (successfully.) It's amazing you can show up a man in the pub by telling him to "go away and hit a woman." Would like to know if police attitudes have changed since.
