Just that really. Debating whether to go picking today but it's a bit of a trek and don't want to be disappointed.

Thanking yows

Just starting in Cumbria. We got our first bag today!

reservoircats · 11/08/2020 13:39

I'm in London. Mine are nowhere near ready.

Crinkle77 · 11/08/2020 14:55

I'm in NW England and they're ready here.

weebarra · 11/08/2020 14:57

East Scotland - nothing here yet!

Floralnomad · 11/08/2020 15:00

SE England and I think you will be lucky to find any round here as people seem to have been picking them for a couple of weeks already .

cringeworthit · 11/08/2020 15:05

Bedfordshire - season started about three weeks ago.

DeanImpala67 · 11/08/2020 15:21

North Bristol area and ours are definitely ready, we picked a load on our walk today. There were some in the shade that hadn't ripened but most were gloriously ready for plucking.

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 11/08/2020 16:10

Yep Dh brought a load home from our local park, crumble and custard 😁

HelloDoris · 11/08/2020 16:32

West Midlands here, this week really for us has been the start of the picking season. My plant on the allotment seems to be ripening the perfect amount for each visit. My freezer will be full in a couple of weeks.

TheChosenTwo · 11/08/2020 16:47

Loads here in the SE but we hate them so never pick or eat them 😂

Babyroobs · 11/08/2020 17:48

Yes we've had two delicious blackberry and bramley apple crumbles the past two sundays. One lot of blackberries picked from our local country park then second lot picked this week from our garden and Bramley apples at a different country park !!

wrexham · 11/08/2020 18:44

Not really here. I'd wait a week or two.

rslsys · 11/08/2020 20:15

Norfolk - we have every step of the lifecycle on our blackberries. Some just coming into flower, fruit just forming, green fruit and ripe fruit. Picked 2Kg on Monday - resulted in 2.5 jars + a tester of Bramble Jelly.
Blackberry Jam will follow, more Bramble Jelly and finally Blackberry Brandy.

EasilyDelighted · 11/08/2020 20:22

Lots here, but lots still to ripen too (Hampshire).

blackteaplease · 11/08/2020 20:26

Not yet here in rural devon. But we are in a cold valley and our fruit/ flowers are about 2 weeks behind the warmer spots locally

bengalcat · 11/08/2020 20:30

West London definitely - started picking them for crumbles etc @3 wks ago

TheTurnOfTheScrew · 11/08/2020 20:30

Yes, in NW England. While I was on an eight hour conference call my 13yo went and picked a tupperware full from the woods, and made a crumble. I love having teens.

Mumtoone39 · 11/08/2020 20:32

Nope- northern Ireland

MarshaBradyo · 11/08/2020 20:33

Yes neighbour gave us some a week or two ago

Medievalist · 11/08/2020 20:35

South west here - only just starting, but we are on quite a windswept hillside.

TroysMammy · 11/08/2020 20:37

South Wales, picked nearly 6lb on Sunday. My DP doesn't know when to stop picking and it's dullard here who has to make blackberry jelly. I've still got jars of the stuff from last year left!

AnneLovesGilbert · 11/08/2020 20:38

Yep, picked loads. Made a very nice berry frozen yogurt which I jar for supper.

PotteringAlong · 11/08/2020 20:42

I got loads today!

BreastedBoobilyToTheStairs · 11/08/2020 21:05

Thanks to this thread I went down a blackberry lane today in Northumberland and picked enough for a couple of jars of jam. There's absolutely loads starting to come out that aren't ready yet, so there will be plenty to look forward to!

HumphreyGoodmanswife · 11/08/2020 21:08

Yes in Yorkshire. We've picked two big hauls already since the beginning of last week Grin. Definitely earlier this year
