Areas to live in Marlow

Hi!

This is my first Mumsnet post woop Cake how exciting!
Have been reading some really helpful posts so far, but as I'm now in the process of viewing houses I thought I'd send a message out to help with decision making, hope to hear back from some lovely Mumsnetters soon!

DH and I are expecting our first baby at the start of next year Grin and have chosen Marlow as the place we'd like to bring up a family. I'm originally from Windsor and my family are still in Windsor and the surrounding areas so we've chosen to move closer to them for quality time and support network. I went to a grammar school close by in Bucks and so familiar with the school system etc.

After living in London for most of our 20s we've chosen Marlow for various reasons. Funny as I know a lot about the surrounding areas and have friends from Maidenhead and Henley, but I know nothing about Marlow. Mum is a carer and has a few clients in Marlow so she's trying to ask around too!

When it comes to choosing our home we're both unsure if there's anywhere we should avoid that's not obvious (it seems unlikely to me). I'm friends with someone who grew up in Marlow Bottom but he was unable to tell me much about the streets in Marlow itself.

We viewed 3 houses last weekend (Little Marlow Road, Woodside Gardens and Glade Road) and all were great but unfortunately, none were suitable for us. It helped us realise that we would like something that has a decent amount of space on a quiet road. We'd like to be 20 mins max walk to town.

There's a property on Holland Road which seems to tick a lot of boxes...so I was just wondering if anyone had any info about this particular area in general? Newtown Road and the adjoining roads basically. Also in and around Seymour Park Road and Barnards Hill.

Any more info and help about Marlow and advice for young mums much appreciated! Keen to meet and make new local friends FlowersWine x

Not sure if you've already found somewhere? If you're still looking, you probably should think about school catchment areas. The places which you've listed appear, at first glance, to be outside of the favoured schools. I'm not up-to-date but I think the order of preferred catchments is probably...
1 Danesfield

3 Holy Trinity
4 Burford
5 Little Marlow

Also if you ask for this to be moved from 'Chat' to 'Property' I think you'd get lots of posts.

Hello, just jumping on this thread :)
Did you manage to move to Marlow?
My husband and 5 year old daughter are thinking about a move come august to Marlow and have found a lovely house in Newtown Road-we’re looking at primaries also.
Let me know how you got on Smile
