Anyone out there with a broken bone??

I've got a badly broken arm and heard today it would be in a cast for another 6 weeks (already done 4). At least they've changed the cast to one with some elbow movement. It's my right arm and I'm right handed.

Feeling really tired and a bit down.

I'm going to minor injuries in a bit because I'm pretty sure I've broken at least one rib! Not as bad as a broken arm, but I've not slept properly since doing it on Friday and the pain is horrible - so I'm fed up too.... Am hoping to at least get some decent painkillers later on!

Another 6 weeks is a nightmare though - are you off work or still having to work?

Oh broken ribs are really painful, poor you.

I'm furloughed until September but now not sure what's going to happen as i can't drive or write!!

@BoxhillBertha ouch feel for you. Thankfully nothing broken for me atm but have broken my arm twice before and you have my fullest sympathy,

@DottyDotAgain deff think breaking my rib was worse than my arm. Couldn't cast my rib so was still moving and just breathing was painful and exhausting. But mine also took a year and needed surgery to repair (thankfully this is very rare apparently). But recovery is much slower cos you can't stabilise it.

I've never broken anything before so it's been a shock. I'd definitely imagine a broken rib is more painful day to day.

Is it normal to feel tired and miserable? Kind of feel i should be over it by now!

Broke my wrist in 8 places at the beginning of June, you have my sympathies! I had it manipulated twice as it was dislocated so I was black and blue from finger tips to past my elbow for two weeks. I had my cast off a few weeks ago and it's still swollen, and bloody useless. Fortunately I've been working from home so had a week off but worked after that. No time to dwell on it really! Did you buy one of the arm covers for showering? I found that really useful. I'm also right handed, I can just about write now, but it moans. It's nice to be able to wash my hair properly now, and shave my armpits 😆

yes a Limbo! Bloody brilliant.

I'm sorry to hear about your wrist. Consultant did say it would be 12 weeks before it was anywhere near normal, so that's including rehab.

Yes me! I've been shielding due to several medical conditions, being exra careful etc. I bent down the other night to feed the dogs, twisted my foot and broken it across the middle.
Hospital didn't believe me at first until they saw the x-ray but I knew something was wrong, got one of those fancy boots and seeing the consultant tomorrow.
I don't expect they can do much though as it's in an odd place and more than likely heal over time.
You have my sympathy, it's very frustrating!

BoxhillBertha · 10/08/2020 18:58

So frustrating! Will you need an op?
