France quarantine: will holiday villa give refund?

IF France is added to the quarantine list this week - seems likely - what are my chances of a refund from the holiday villa we have booked? We just cannot go if we’d have to quarantine for two weeks afterwards. Firstly because of DH’s job (medical, cannot be done from home!) and secondly the children’s return to school.

I’ve got £2000 tied up in this holiday property. I fully appreciate it is not the fault of the owners and that this is their business. We do not have insurance that would cover this sort of cancellation reason. I don’t want to contact them until we know for sure what’s happening. I doubt the extra few days notice would help them much anyway.

What do you think? Are they likely to give me back my money? 😢

That would be perfect if they could!

Well put it this way, we booked our holiday long before the March lockdown and we still weren't offered a refund if we cancelled as the campsite was open.

I haven't even been able to get a refund from BA for flights they've cancelled!

@dameofdilemma it took me 8 minutes getting a refund from BA- try calling on the Gold Executive overseas number 🤫 they didn't ask me for my number... good thing really as I'm in the Aluminium Executive club 😂

I got a full refund! Amazingly, the owners managed to take a new booking.

Good outcome financially although I am now feeling a bit regretful because it looks as though France might escape quarantine after all!! (I’m never satisfied 😉). We wouldn’t have been able to relax though, knowing it could happen at any moment.

Glad you got your money back. The guidance could change at any time so it’s probably for the best, you can go abroad another time. Enjoy the rest of the summer hols here without quarantine.

@TheNewLook you must be relieved...money back and no quarantine & now no regrets

Trashtara · 14/08/2020 08:21

Great outcome for all. Especially with the quarantine news.

@TheNewLook you really dodged the bullet there! Great outcome particularly now.
