To do 10,000 steps? It takes me hours and I'm not sure it should take that long

When working - about 3 hours.

Mingo2010 · 09/08/2020 23:10

When I am walking about 90 mins.

DameHannahRelf · 09/08/2020 23:12

Going by my phone, around an hour and half at best, sometimes longer. Less if I'm in a hurry or not going up hill (I tend to dawdle while I walk).

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 09/08/2020 23:13

When out walking at a normalish pace... 1000 steps = 10 minutes. So 10000 steps would be 1hr40.
When I'm 'running' (it isn't fast- but I'm unfit and overweight) my 2 mile run takes 30mins and is roughly 4000steps.

RomaineCalm · 09/08/2020 23:13

About 4 miles. So 1¼ hours of decent-paced walking, about 6 hours of just 'being busy' at home and about 2 days if I am WFH and tied to a desk!

Following... Struggling to get mine in lately...

Bargebill19 · 09/08/2020 23:16

It’s not that long at work! I do around 20k steps a day. If I was at home and just going for a walk (nope not happening ever!) it would take me around 75mins.

Valkadin · 09/08/2020 23:21

I do not have a pedometer anymore but when at work FT I could easily do those a day. That did always include a brisk 35 min walk in my lunch break.

buckeejit · 09/08/2020 23:25

I do a 45 min walk in the morn & that's 5k steps. Can usually get to 10 in the rest of the day. If not, I walk round the neighbourhood to get there!

Mintjulia · 09/08/2020 23:26

That’s roughly my run distance, so about 1hr 15.

DelphiniumBlue · 09/08/2020 23:26

If I'm doing an actual walk, about 1 1/2 hours, that's not at striding pace, more comfortable chatting strolling speed. I could go faster and do it quicker but then I'd be sweaty and uncomfortable, so I don't!

ChubbyPigeon · 09/08/2020 23:30

About 1hr - 1hr 1/2

Most days I just do 10000 steps just by working/walking to the supermarket etc.

Its about 4 miles for me, 15-20 mins per mile depending on speed.

QuestionableMouse · 09/08/2020 23:31

I tend to do at least that many per shift, but I'm not always constantly walking.

MarkRuffaloCrumble · 10/08/2020 00:09

I walk for an hour most days and get about 6500-7000 steps in. Then the rest happen naturally throughout the day.

Mingo2010 · 10/08/2020 11:38

Thanks for your replies I went out this morning without the buggy and it only took one hour 40 mins xx

FYI if you are wearing the pedometer on your wrist like a Fitbit etc, and pushing a pram, it often doesn’t pick up the steps because your hands are still.

I put mine around my bra strap or belt and it was much more accurate
