Tea towels - how do you wash yours?

Do people wash them separately or stick them in with an ordinary wash?

I always do mine separately, but it means they are hanging around until I have a few to do.

I'm not sure whether everyone segregates things that go on bodies from things that go on things that food goes on or if I am being a bit ridiculous...

I get a fresh one out each day. They go in with a 60c wash, so that's bedding, towels, white clothing, etc. I do a 60c wash about twice a week anyway.

FlyingLoo · 09/08/2020 18:14

I have t towels for drying dishes and separate t towels for drying hands in the kitchen both are changed everyday and washed together once a week.

Flynn999 · 09/08/2020 18:14

Just throw them away after every use 🤷‍♀️

Sertchgi123 · 09/08/2020 18:15

Separately on at very hot wash.

Enderman · 09/08/2020 18:17

Just in with the other wash. I’d be waiting a week if I did them all separately.

Normal wash. Unless they are really bad and I’ll soak them in soda crystals before chucking them in with the bedding.

TyneTeas · 09/08/2020 18:19

It's silly, I've never even thought about why or why not at all before, I just always have. Probably my mother did hers separately.

They get washed with white washing or with bedding as ours are mostly light colours. Otherwise they’d go in the normal wash. The washing up cloths get thrown in the washing machine every day with whatever washing is on.

Cakeorchocolate · 09/08/2020 18:24

In with the other towels +/- bedding depending on space. That's only because I tumble dry towels. Otherwise they'd be in with a standard load of clothes.

Budapestpest · 09/08/2020 18:25

Hot wash with towels

Skyliner001 · 09/08/2020 18:26

Literally did not even know that washing them separately could possibly be a thing. They go in with everything else.

Disfordarkchocolate · 09/08/2020 18:27

In with everything, and washed after a maximum of one days use.

MintyMabel · 09/08/2020 18:27

I do mine with cloths in a separate wash. They tend to smell of oil when you tumble dry them, no matter how you wash them. I don’t like my towels smelling of fat.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 09/08/2020 18:28

I have plenty so I wait until I’ve got a lot and then wash them on their own at 60 deg.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 09/08/2020 18:29

I Chuck them in the washing machine. Put other stuff in. Turn washing machine on.

kerfuffling · 09/08/2020 18:29

The washing machine is in the kitchen so they just get thrown straight in the machine and get washed with whatever load goes on next. The dishcloths get the same treatment.

Life's too short to fanny about with dirty teatowels.

theneverendinglaundry · 09/08/2020 18:29

Mine go in with towels, cleaning cloths and flannels at 60 degrees, no softener.

Spidey66 · 09/08/2020 18:31

On a hot wash with towels and dishclothes

EasternDailyStress · 09/08/2020 18:31

In a boil wash with towels and dishcloths, usually once a week.

VanillaSpiceCandle · 09/08/2020 18:32

On their own or with cleaning cloths. I have sometimes put them in with the towels on a hot wash but it doesn’t seem right. Maybe I should relax!

I don’t feel like cleaning cloths can be mixed in with anything else though. The idea of cleaning product residue and the stuff they’ve used to clean doesn’t seem very nice. Am I being ridiculous though? Does anyone else just throw in cleaning cloths with a normal load?

CasuallyMasculine · 09/08/2020 18:33

I’ve never washed anything at 60°!

Mine go in by colour - never mind what substance they’ve been next to - I’ve even put towels that have had guinea pig poo in them in with the normal washing!

Clymene · 09/08/2020 18:34

I do them with bed linen, towels, cleaning cloths etc at 60 degrees
