Hello Mumsnet folks,

I’ve an ongoing list of things to do and places to visit but would appreciate loads more as well as places to eat (particularly local and fresh fish and seafood)!

We’re staying not far from Needham Market, have a car so can and will travel and will have our bikes with us. 2 kids, 10 and 6 years old.

Walks, bike rides, beach days, body/paddle boarding places, cool places to visit etc. Less indoors stuff although could be useful in case the weather is awful.

Thanks

@iheattc ooh, that’s intersecting. I can see they do archery and my son is desperate to give that a go. It’s also near Lakenheath, my husband found a couple of cycle routes nearby. They’re all aircraft fans!

Go to Banham Zoo over Africa Alive. Much better. We live locally and my son hated Africa Alive whereas we have passes for Banham Zoo he loves it so much! They are owned by the same company - once you have a pass you get free access to both.

There are amazing cycle trails at High Lodge as well! And a Go Ape. It’s such good value for a day out. They are restricting numbers though but they have introduced some pre booking so if you want to guarantee entry you can pre book a few days before.

If you’re going as far as Holkham, Blickling and Felbrigg are closer and are both National Trust. I think the houses are closed at the moment but the parklands are lovely.

Definitely Framlingham Castle, it’s English Heritage and you’ll need to prebook. Framlingham is a lovely town. Also Orford Castle, Orford is a lovely little seaside village.

Southwold and Walberswick are indeed heaving at the moment. We had to pop into Walberswick last week and it took us about half an hour to drive five minutes down the road, the bloody people trying to come in and dump their cars on every conceivable surface was just ridiculous.

Can definitely recommend Old Hall cafe and walks near Southwold, it’s where the maize maze is and they have a fab playground too. Again it needs to be prebooked.
