Can you still buy emulsion paint in a tray ready to use with roller?

It's years since we redecorated so apologies in advance Blush . DH liked using the preprepared paint already in a tray ready to use. Do they still sell these?

I’ve never seen such a thing.

Why not just buy a tin of paint and pour it into a tray?

GreyishDays · 09/08/2020 11:11

So when it runs out you buy a new tray and roller? That seems quite wasteful.

Pouring the paint in is fine. Smile

@DDIJ is right I think that is the reason DH liked them , the solid consistency made it easier to apply without splattering everywhere. It was not the "Couldn't be bothered to tip it into a tray"
I don't even know what to search for TBH even on amazon.

Dulux made it, dad loved it as it applied evenly and very little mess or waste. The empty trays were used for gloss work or other things. That was over 35 years ago!

Thixotropic paint is the type of paint. Wickes did have some, although it came in tins.
Maybe the specialist section as suggested or google?
Good luck!

It’s on sale And in stock at “allthesupplies.com“ I have tried to add a pic of the website but don’t know if it will work. No idea why it’s now hard yo get hold of - it was perfect for ceilings!

It seems pretty wasteful to be honest, and expensive.

It’s really not hard to use ordinary emulsion without making a mess, and you can reuse the tray and roller many times.

user1294625849274 · 09/08/2020 17:32

It shouldn't splatter anywhere unless you're overloading the roller?

Cocolapew · 09/08/2020 17:35

Using a paint pad instead of a roller causes much less mess.

QuestionableMouse · 09/08/2020 17:35

One coat paint is usually thicker.
