What did you do last night when not sleeping?

Did anyone get any sleep last night? Exhausted today. Sorry shift workers and new parents etc but I'm not used to it any more!
I got on MN for first time in ages and had a life affirming read of the "hold your worries" thread, and an education in trolling!
What about you?

Fidgeted a d prayed I wouldn't have a hangover when I properly woke up.

It worked Grin!

BrokenBrit · 08/08/2020 10:35

Finished a book - after the end Clare Macintosh - highly recommended. Then got up at 6 and watered the plants in the cool air Grin. Not feeling too bad now considering I’ve had about 3 hours sleep!

RemyHadley · 08/08/2020 10:50

Tidied, did the washing up, did all the stuff it was too hot in the daytime to do.

cheeseycharlie · 08/08/2020 11:23

@RemyHadley I did wonder when I posted this if anyone managed to do anything vaguely useful with the time!

@MintyCedric that's a great result, no hangover! Not what you'd expect in the circumstances! Maybe tonight I'll try knocking myself out with a few

@BrokenBrit that's what I wanted to do (ie read) but didn't want to put the light on and disturb DH - no point both of us being knackered- and my current book isn't on kindle, sigh.

I fell back asleep about 6:30 and woke after 9 feeling rotten! More coffee please

@cheeseycharlie

IKR? Saw my best mate for only the second time since lockdown, there was gin, wine and cider.

How I got away with it I've no idea!

plunkplunkfizz · 08/08/2020 13:50

Fantasised about kicking my snoring DH to death.

Mercedes519 · 08/08/2020 13:53

Mostly tried —and failed— to shout at DD who kept coming in to tell me she couldn’t sleep just as I was drifting off. Then DH came in to bed and made loads of noise.

So until about 2am seethed silently about my family Grin.

First one up this morning and had an hours peace with a cuppa in the garden. Bliss

DriftGames · 08/08/2020 13:54

Laid half in my daughters cot trying to boob her back to sleep every 40 minutes whilst listening to my husband snore and considering using my first class degree in forensic science to murder him and get away with it.

Lockdownseperation · 08/08/2020 13:54

I was awake feeding the toddler. I watch history documentaries on iPlayer in 10 to 15 minute chunks.

MonkeyToesOfDoom · 08/08/2020 13:57

Put the fan on and opened the door.

Turned the fan off and left door open.

Open windows and opened door.

Put fan on and opened windows and open door.

Fluffed pillow whilst fan was on with open windows and open door.

Flattened the too puffy pillow turned the fan off pushed door too.

So on and so on and so on..

Needless to say I got lots of sleep..

TroysMammy · 08/08/2020 14:00

Well apparently I was snoring like a little piglet but around 1am my DP was looking out of the window watching a drunk guy wobbling on an electric bike then face planting on the pavement. A neighbour, in her nightie came out of her house to see if he was ok. Then a young man and older woman came marching down the road to respectively claim the bike and the drunk bloke. Sometimes I wish I wasn't such a deep sleeper.

SoosanCarter · 08/08/2020 14:09

Re-arranged the pillows.
Made sure my big black Labrador had the fans trained on him. Listened to him huff and puff all through upstairs.
Raided the fridge freezer. Ate a big slice of cheese and onion pie and two small ice cream tubs.
Went on Mumsnet.
The clock crept round to 6am. Dog’s breakfast time.
Dreading tonight.

niki26 · 08/08/2020 14:15

Gave up at 2.30am and came downstairs to try and sleep on the sofa. Still couldn't sleep so put on reruns of Friends. Cat came for cuddle in. Both too hot. Cat pissed off with me moving all the time.

Literally only just remembered I have a hand held fan packed ready in my hospital bag (I'm 35 weeks pregnant) so have dug that out and now fanning myself whilst the cat looks on suspiciously......

spiritedawai · 08/08/2020 14:15

Apart from cleaning up our elderly dog's accident, I spent the whole night with my incredibly sweaty toddler attached to my boob.

OooErrThor · 08/08/2020 14:19

I really struggle to sleep at the best of times so I think out winning some money - what I'd do if I won £10, £100, £1000, £5000 etc. It's good for my mental maths, last night the 2 large glasses of wine meant I slept like a log, apparently I spent most of the night at my husband's side of the bed snoring Grin

He didn't get much sleep, I felt as fresh as a daisyWink

Tlollj · 08/08/2020 15:13

Just laid there sweating mostly.
Got up walked about a bit had a glass of water.

Gilead · 08/08/2020 15:29

Crocheted!

Lurchermom · 08/08/2020 15:39

😁 I know this feeling well. I've even filmed him before to show a jury. No one would convict.
ihearttc · 08/08/2020 15:44

I also finished After the End by Clare Macintosh yesterday, absolutely amazing and highly recommend it!

Last night though I just tossed and turned all night and got up this morning with an awful headache which won’t go. I get headaches a lot but this is one of the worst I’ve ever had.

Oldraver · 08/08/2020 15:45

I didnt sleep too badly but was woken by a kitten at 6am who wanted to play. It was gone 7am when I finally got off then woke at half nine

ImFree2doasiwant · 08/08/2020 15:47

Tossed and turned, sweated, got up , unzipped a gazillion laters of tent and walked around outside. Posted on mumsnet, tried to read.

joystir59 · 08/08/2020 15:53

Why couldn't any of you sleep?

TwoZeroTwoZero · 08/08/2020 15:56

Got annoyed with dh snoring and tried to stop him. To avoid smothering him I got up and watched Keeping Up Appearances and then made an image from some other images. I went back to bed at around 5a.m., put my sleeping mask on and fell asleep listening to thunderstorm noises.

CoronaIsShit · 08/08/2020 16:00

Had a very cold shower (3rd of the day) just before getting into bed. Floor fan on with freezer blocks tied to the front of it (Imaginative DH) which really cooled the room right down, thin nightie, no coverings and slept fine until said imaginative DH woke me up at 4am for a ‘cuddle’ Blush as it’s the only time all DC are asleep at the moment! Was up at 8.45 for the gym which always energises me no matter how badly I slept.

cheeseycharlie · 08/08/2020 23:59

Good luck tonight ladies.
@CoronaIsShit I hope tonight is as fun as last night - I think you win this thread with the 4am cuddle!
