Is anyone else seeing loads of butterflies this summer? We live in the city and usually hardly see any but our garden is full of Canvage Whites Red Admirals and others!
It's so lovely to see them.

Yes! It really is a bumper year for them.
We've seen so many different ones that we don't normally see and I've bought a butterfly identifier book so we can tick off the ones we see. I've even got my teens into looking out for them.

Have you done the BigButterflyCount?

PracticalTacticalBrilliance · 07/08/2020 11:54

Yep, us too! It's wonderful we're getting so many.

We have had more than normal.

I wouldn't say there have been loads but instead of a few 5ish? a year I'm noticing one fluttering by every other time I'm out the house.

Not landing enough for me to identify usually. A red one a few times and cabbage white

They are slightly higher in numbers this year, mainly because we had a dry Spring in the UK. 🙂

Yes it feels like it, though I'm in my own garden more this year. Was just saying I want to grow a nettle patch as their caterpillars like to live on them.
