Why are my teens wearing jumpers?!

Boys 17 & 19 yo. It's 32 degrees and v humid here. Both wearing jeans, Tshirt and hoodies. The sweatshirts have hardly been off all summer but they swear they're comfortable as they are.

Surely that's not normal? Grin

same reason they don't wear coats in winter, and wear bare legs to go to nightclubs.

I'm convinced that teenagers heat mechanism is broken. Grin

I found DD under her duvet earlier with the fan on.

That was my first thought as well @ohnoitsnot.

I've seen a few people today wearing jackets and fleeces. This has reminded me that autistic folk can be known to wrap up when it is seemingly unnecessary as it gives them a sense of security.

Tattoos? (My DC wears a hoodie to hide tattoos from GPs rather than listen to lectures). Smile

Yes my 14 year old sits with a blanket on her legs all summer when she's watching Netflix or playing on her Xbox

DH when he was young used to wear jumpers during summer as he was ashamed by the way he looked in a t-shirt. Sad

Ha, my DD too, although because 33 degrees outside she's lost the oversized hoodie & only has the jeans, t shirt and sweatshirt on. Obviously, she's under the duvet too. Grin

My dd has gone out in black jeans, and a big oversized sweatshirt.
She too will wear shorts and bare feet in winter.

Mine wear shorts and T-shirt's in bed, even in winter. When it's cold they shuffle round the house with a fleece blanket wrapped round their legsConfused

I saw a teen out earlier this week dressed in black, including a long black coat! I felt hot and ill looking at him Grin

Because they’re too cool to wear shorts.

Mine are wearing shorts and vest tops but can’t seem to sit on the sofa without wrapping up in a blanket 🤷🏼‍♀️

No coat in winter.
Hoodie and jeans when's it's summer!

What can you do? 🙄

They're teenagers!

As long as they know how to use the washing machine to clean their probably sweaty clothes, leave them to it.

Mine are exactly the same.

The most commonly asked question in our house, DH to DC is "why are you under a blanket in the middle of summer?!"

Report
BobFleming · 07/08/2020 18:26

Mine are the opposite and wear shorts all year round.

Same. 15yr old DS. Everyday in joggers, trainers, t-shirt and hoody. Fan also on 24/7 in bedroom.

I have one of these too, will just wear same as yesterday until jolted by either heatstroke or frostbite, then resets for six months.

20 year old DS is wearing black jeans and a long sleeve flannel shirt with a T-shirt underneath. He's making me feel hot just looking at him!

DS2, who has been known to wear shorts in the snow, quite often goes out in his puffa when it's 28 degrees.

Teens are just weird!

I’ve just been to the osteopath. He’s a young man, maybe 30, and he was wearing what appeared to be a fisherman’s sweater underneath his scrubs. He commented how glad he was of the aircon in the consulting room. I resisted the temptation to suggest he take his jumper off Hmm

Last year, we had loads wearing winter puffa jackets in the hottest weather.

I wondered whether it was a weight loss thing, but I concluded they were just stupid enough to think it made them look unique.

The folly of youth, just wanting to be ironic. 'Everyone pay attention to me'. In twenty years or so, they might realise how ridiculous they were.
