How clean do you leave your holiday rental

Leaving our rental on Saturday.

I would normally strip beds, clean the loo, sweep the floor and wipe down the sides.

But with the current situation should I do more?

I do the same as you and empty all the bins.

When we left ours the owner said that she needed to clean every plate and utensil in the kitchen, so leaving a running dishwasher was a good thing.

I do whatever is specified in the literature/by the owner. It's usually stripping bedding, towels in bath, maybe starting a load of washing, putting dishwasher on. I'd wipe sides down after use anyway. Would only sweep floors if they were particularly dirty. Oh clearing out the fridge as well, and putting the bins and recycling out. But no proper cleaning, that's what the cleaning fee is for (and I wouldn't be hugely impressed with an owner that didn't have the house properly cleaned before next tenants and expected previous occupiers to do it).

Yes to emptying the bins, putting recycling out, stripping the beds, wiping down surfaces, emptying the fridge, gathering all of the towels together in the bathroom, checking the toilets, washing up and/or leaving the dishwasher running with any final plates/mugs from breakfast.

No to hoovering, sweeping, mopping, dusting, cleaning toilets/bathrooms.

We are in one right now with the best sign I've ever read in my life, prominently displayed in the kitchen.
It says:
'Please don't bother to clean or strip beds - you are on holiday to have a good time, we will clean everything after you leave. Enjoy your stay.'

It has made my YEAR!
Obvs I will still ensure the dirty crockery is all washed up/in running dishwasher and wipe sides and straighten up, and probably put used towels in one pile. Because that is only human. But I will love not stripping beds and sweeping/hoovering! And will book again for sure!

I don't do any cleaning - that's pointless
I do strip beds empty the rubbish and put the dishwasher on

Ooooosh · 05/08/2020 22:34

The same as @Voice0fReason since I’m paying for the privilege to not clean!
