they didn't like it one bit.

was meeting up with a relative for a (socially distant) catch up.
relative is a faffer who is always at least half an hour late. I planned to be at meeting point on time, but my bicycle got knocked over (stopped to put a letter in a letter box) and I had to put the chain back on.
so I was there 10 minutes after faffer. omg. they are livid!

I've had similar! Faffer is always late, ( every time we meet up in 20 years), then ONE time was early, they had the audacity to text me to ask where I was!

tiredanddangerous · 05/08/2020 14:34

Did you point out the number of times they've kept you waiting?

snowqu33n · 05/08/2020 14:36

Just tell them a time 15 minutes earlier than you plan to meet them next time. They will be none the wiser and you won’t have to wait so long.
Consistent lateness can be either disrespect for your time compared to their own, or insecurity about waiting for you on their own. Are they an anxious faffer or a cheeky faffer?

pinkbalconyrailing · 05/08/2020 14:37

of course I did.
I even apologised (they never do).
their reaction took me by surprise!

passive agressive faffer.
I reallyshould have seen that coming shouldn't I?

With cheeky or PA faffers, it is a power thing. That's why your rellie was angry - they've been used to having the 'power' of lateness.

badacorn · 05/08/2020 15:23

yep. I have a relative who is late for everything AND has zero tolerance of waiting for others, queueing etc. They are a bighead who thinks they're more important than everyone else!

Jaxhog · 05/08/2020 15:29

Just tell them it makes up for all the times they were late. At least you had a genuine excuse.

Jaxhog · 05/08/2020 15:30

Or tell them you didn't think it would a problem as they're always late!
