We're heading to Frinton on Sea, Essex on Friday - any recommendations of places to eat for dinner outdoors please - don't mind a country pub nearby?

There are a number of places you can eat. What sort of food do you like?

Lightsabre · 05/08/2020 12:27

Thanks. Anything that a gastro pub might offer or home made. Not keen on fast food.

Forgot to say - nowhere posh/too formal. A good wine list would be a bonus!

You'll need to check with each place as I know some are doing first come, first serve, and some are taking bookings.

In Connaught Avenue you have; G & T's, Pier One, Star of India, Avenue Bistro, Hat & Mouse, The Lock & Barrel, British India plus various cafes (Bird & Bean do lovely takeaway food).

Old Road which runs parallel to Connaught Avenue has Stanley's.

Kirby-Le-Soken (5-10 min drive) you have The Red Lion and The Ship - both have lots of parking.

Thorpe-Le-Soken (you drive through it to get to Frinton) have a number of pubs. The Bell is very good.

Hope that helps.

@afinetoothcomb, thank you! I'll check them all out...

I've heard things about the Avenue Bistro, but never been there myself. Have you checked on tripadvisor for the reviews?

Nothing to add on the food front, but lucky you! One of my favourite places ever. Used to go there every year as a child (despite only living about an hour away 😂). Hope you have a great day!

Had a wonderful day on the beach in Frinton yesterday - it was very crowded but we found a spot down by the golf course. Had a great meal at the Bell Inn and so glad of the recommendation to book as everywhere was heaving! Had a lovely table outside on the terrace and the food was very good with friendly service.
