I have nothing helpful to add. Just wanted to say these suggestions all sound SO delicious!!

muddledmidget · 04/08/2020 19:44

I like the tubs of sandwich filler from the supermarket in vol au vents - coronation chicken, egg and bacon, prawn mayo, cheese and onion, tuna crunch - all delicious and definitely no hassle. Could make your own of any of the fillings

RoadworksAgain · 04/08/2020 19:45

Fry some grated courgette and a crushed garlic clove, add a big dollop of creme fraiche, fill your vol au vents with the mixture and add a small cube of feta to each one.

nocoolnamesleft · 04/08/2020 19:46

Melt brie into creme fraiche. Top with lightly roasted herby tomatoes.

Graphista · 04/08/2020 20:38

Creamed mushrooms (tin)
Diced egg mayo - salad cream makes a nice change with this
Sweet corn, diced peppers and mayo
Brie and grape
Brie and cranberry sauce
Cherry tomatoes, olives and houmous - chop up the veggies mix into houmous fill vol au vents
Vegetarian pate - I especially like the tubes of granovita from Holland and Barrett Preferably herb or mushroom
You could go totally retro with primula!

My god it’s been years since I had a vol au vent...I really want one now.

Campbell’s condensed mushroom soup.

Boringnamechanging · 04/08/2020 20:45

Completely missing the point of the thread but where does one get a vol au vent?

I've only ever found Vol au Vont cases in Sainsburys and not often unless it's near Chdistmas!

I fill them with tinned chicken in white wine sauce (would never buy it otherwise!) or prawns in seafood sauce ❤

Boringnamechanging · 04/08/2020 20:57

@MrsJBaptiste Thank you

I'm having flash backs to childhood mum use to go them with tuna and mayo? Or parsley sauce?? Maybe? not sure I'll have to see if she remembers.

TrickyD · 04/08/2020 21:34

Jusroll used to do cocktail sized vol-au-vents but last Christmas I could only find larger ones. I rang Jusroll HQ who were very helpful but said that though they still made them they only sold them to the big wholesale places like Costco and Bookers, not to normal supermarkets.

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 04/08/2020 21:45

Condensed mushroom soup, add some more chopped mushrooms.

Jar of seafood sauce, packet of frozen prawns (the small ones).

CherryPavlova · 04/08/2020 21:56

Fajita vegetables - finely chopped peppers, onion, carrot, baby corn fried until soft with fajita spice. A little grated cheese and a tiny amount of soured cream
Coronation chicken- cooked chicken, mayo, curry paste, mango chutney, toasted almonds.
Blue cream cheese, apple and walnut
Prawn cocktail
Crab with finely chopped deseeded tomatoes, scallion and sweet chilli.
Egg mayonnaise, cress and tomatoes

TimeToGetMeBack · 04/08/2020 21:57
