Sorry. The cinemas are closed, I’ve got nothing better to do! 😂

Amber Heard & Johnny Depp....Your thoughts? THREAD 2!
Frownette · 19/09/2020 12:59

Just turned into a veritable shitshow, didn't it.

I have no idea what's going on but it seems like they brought out the worst in each other.

TinySongstress · 19/09/2020 13:15

One of them was physically, emotionally, financially and psychologically abused.

The other was Amber Heard.

prh47bridge · 19/09/2020 16:16

I hope she is done for perjury

In the current libel case the judge will decide based on the balance of probabilities. For a perjury conviction the prosecution would have to prove beyond reasonable doubt that she knew her evidence was false or did not believe it was true. If, for example, she has convinced herself that her allegations are true she has not committed perjury.

Even if the required level of proof is possible, it is rare for people to be prosecuted for perjury on the basis of evidence given in civil cases.

prh47bridge · 28/10/2020 19:25

Judgement will be handed down on Monday morning at 10am.

Mokusspokus · 28/10/2020 20:21

Omg thanks ph4.

beelola · 02/11/2020 06:53

What do we think the outcome will be today? I think Depp will win.

prh47bridge · 02/11/2020 10:12

Depp has lost.

prh47bridge · 02/11/2020 10:20

The judge has not found all the 14 alleged incidents proved but has decided enough of them took place to support the Sun's case.

Fridgeandkitchen · 02/11/2020 10:29

Just saw the breaking news.

prh47bridge · 02/11/2020 10:29

On a quick scan of the judgement, the judge appears to have found 12 of the 14 allegations proven.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 02/11/2020 10:33

His strategy failed. He would have been better to let the article die. It’s going to be tough to appeal unless the judge has had made a crashing error of law.

unmarkedbythat · 02/11/2020 10:35

That would be an ooops for Mr Depp then, eh?

Enko · 02/11/2020 10:35

2020 certainly is a weird year covid and now we find out the sun newspaper can tell the truth.....

On a more serious point good for her for standing up and voicing what happened.
I hope it will make other abuse victims get the strength to walk out and speak up.

studychick81 · 02/11/2020 10:35

I can't believe this outcome. Obviously we haven't seen everything but from the evidence seen from the transcripts it seems what AH was saying was completely untrue. There must be much more to it that we don't know about it. When I was reading the transcripts I did think JD lawyer wasn't very good.

Which ones has he found to be true?

PoorMansPaulaRadcliffe · 02/11/2020 10:39

Well, Mark Fuhrman is a racist, but OJ still killed Nicole and Ron. Two truths. I believe AH is an opportunist and a gold-digger, but I'm equally certain life with Depp was a nightmare. I'm satisfied he hit her.
I'm glad he lost.

RunningFromInsanity · 02/11/2020 10:42

Hmm wonder if all those who slated AH will have the decency to apologise.
A messy messy situation.

Fallsballs · 02/11/2020 10:55

I am hoping all the Depp apologists will have a decent squirm now.
He used the courts to abuse her all over again, arrogant fuckwit.
Eau Sauvage my arse.

Dominicgoings · 02/11/2020 10:57

Fantastic result.
And how embarrassing for the DV apologists and Depp groupies.

Fallsballs · 02/11/2020 10:58

I also hope all his sycophants on his payroll will be regretting their lies. Mr Depp will not be their paymaster anymore. Diddums.

thecatsthecats · 02/11/2020 10:59

@RunningFromInsanity

Hmm wonder if all those who slated AH will have the decency to apologise. A messy messy situation.
I think that if the verdict had gone the other way, this thread would have already hit a hundred self satisfied posts.

Clearly it was a highly toxic relationship on both sides. The Sun's article wasn't discussing AHs career prospects - it was about the public support JK Rowling (who couldn't possibly have known either way) gave to someone accused of domestic abuse. A judge has now found the majority of those claims to be justified.

Let's see if that Sauvage perfume ad gets dropped (the admitted drugs and drink behaviors and the "hillbilly rages" are personally admitted by Depp). Tiger Woods lost a huge amount of sponsorship revenue for cheating on his wife - which is twatty, but not illegal.

RunningFromInsanity · 02/11/2020 11:01

Yet sadly all the comments on social media and newspaper comment sections are still saying that he is innocent and that all this case shows is that ‘a man will never win against a woman’.

Sadly AH will never be believed by the public because JD is such a beloved actor.

RunningFromInsanity · 02/11/2020 11:02

Fathers4justice are already using this to further their agenda... Apparently this is why men don’t report domestic violence.

ThrowawayBerna · 02/11/2020 11:07

Delighted for her, as a vindication that a seemingly not particularly nice person can be victimised too, despite an army of paid retainers willing to perjure themselves. (Deuters, Bett - looking at you)

Really hesitant all along to take her side here, because Deppheads have been a spectacle of exhaustive, violent fabrication 24/7 policing discussion on Twitter and there is Twitter crossover with Mumsnet.

I read all the testimony transcripts.

studychick81 · 02/11/2020 11:11

Has anyone got a link to the details of exactly which claims were found to be true?
