jo malone candle smoking a lot..

the flame seems too big and its smoking a lot...any advice? i can't smell the scent.
i've never been able to afford these, it was a gift from a friend but am a bit disappointed now...

Have you been trimming the wick in between burns, if the wick is left long, the flame will be too large and smoke
