Can we try on clothes and shoes?

I hate shopping so I rarely do it, but it’s the time of year when the kids need new school shoes, new uniform, and also DS1 wants some nice clothes for his 15th birthday this month.
But I just wondered - are people allowed to try stuff on at the moment? Surely shoes can’t be bought online? DS2 is 11 so needs his shoes properly fitted. I’ve tried calling shops but they don’t answer, so I wondered if anyone on here knew.
Thanks

I took DD to get new shoes yesterday - Clarks were measuring feet and fitting shoes as normal. I don’t think many/any clothes shops are allowing trying on, though.

Watching with interest. I need new walking shoes, I need to be able to try them on!

Clinkards and sports direct both have let us try on kids shoes.

Yes sports direct are. In our store, they had a table with a bloke on who was sanitising them afterwards and returning them. There were bottles of hand gels on the table too.

Burton's let my ds try on shoes for school but he had to put popsocks on over his socks then bin them

Pretty much every dedicated shoe store will allow you to try them on as there’s be staff on hand to disinfect them and give you disposable socks (and also to prevent theft of the shoes)

But other retailers with a shoe selection probably won’t let you try them on. Clothing store retailers still haven’t opened changing rooms.
