Your favourite Australian snacks?

Hi all,

My friend is stuck in the UK because of the Hague convention and desperately misses home. Its her birthday this weekend and I'm wanting to get her some of her home comforts. She struggles with money so can't treat herself to these either.

What Australian snacks should I get her? I know she has mentioned 'Tim tams' but anything else you could suggest would be great! Thanks in advance

Sakata rice crackers, might be a different brand but these rice crackers are easily available in UK

Cheezels, if she likes cheese crisps

I used to love Hall's butter menthols but they might not really be a snack

Look on SANZA, they normally have a good selection of things from sweets, biscuits, crisps and then things like jams and pickles, chutneys etc

SANZA is the summer lace to get them. Minties, violet crumble, Arnotts pizza shapes (or BBQ shapes), Vegemite (you can get this is some Sainsbury’s though), twisties (cheese and chicken flavour), Burger Rings. Yum!

Don't get the faffed about shit (like dark chocolate, or orange chocolate or caramel or whatever), the the original. There is nothing like them.

Violet Crumbles are nice, as are Jaffas.

I miss lamingtons. Took a while to get my head around them when I was first in Australia, but they are yummy.

I also miss Saos, but they're sort of pretty much a soft water biscuit.

Oh wow these are brilliant, I'll have a look on that site and add some of these, i know she will love having some home comforts

When I was in Australia I couldn’t get enough of pods. Especially the mars bar ones. It’s been ten years since I was there. I’d kill for some now.

Buy some Australian really nice white wine or fizz and serve with Arnots shapes and some macademia nuts.

Make her a Lamington for a birthday cake, very easy and very yummy!

Vegemite is available in most supermarkets it is just a matter of finding it. Tesco has form for putting it in the least obvious place.

Maybe look at getting a cadbury's favourites and a mars celebration box, they have a variety of bite sized chocolates in them.

Oh yes, Kool Mints. But those chewy mint Mentos are pretty much Kool Mints. But Minties are something else.

Also, I miss Musk Lifesavers and Musk Sticks. Only in Australia.

Capilano Creamed Honey!!! Omg I love this stuff and can't get it in the UK. I ask anyone going to bring it back for me.

Caramel Tim Tams were my favourite, along with a bottle of cold chocolate Rush. Just the thing when very stoned at the Pink House hostel in King’s Cross, Sydney.

Wandering round Coles trying to procure these treats when feeling extreme weed-related paranoia was quite challenging though. (20 years ago.)

Pizza shapes are the absolute best. Now I'm hungry for shapes, Tim tams, Aussie Camembert and a bottle of wine.

Agree the creamed honey is good!!

Arnotts Tiny Teddy biscuits. Choc chip ones in particular. They're the first thing I'm buying when I go back.
