Bloody house flies!!!!

I cooked a piece of gammon in the slow cooker and as it was hot I wrapped tin foil around it to cool before refrigerating it.

I just took the foil off and a fly flew out! Eggs laid all over the lovely gammon. I’m absolutely enraged as the whole thing has gone in the bin.

I’m sick of this as I leave the kitchen door open in the summer. Has anyone bought an electronic fly killer or used those door tape things to discourage flies? Any tips to keep flies away??

Yes we have the tennis bat style one.Once you learn to use it effectively, you can Ace them in the air,but don't bash them on surfaces, just gently does it.

We have one called 'The Executioner' from Amazon...i highly recommend it. Its brutal, kept well out the way of DC but it literally blasts the little buggers apart!

We bought a fly zapping lantern thing from Aldi last week. It seems to be catching the little blighters thankfully.

Collar Put it in a sealed bag or you’ll have maggots let loose in the bin within a couple of days.

They're everywhere this summer. We have a fly trap and it gets filled so quickly, only problem is emptying it as they just sit on top of the corpses and refuse to drown.

Has anyone tried a clear sandwich bag filled with water and a few pennies? Apparently it works but DS wouldn't leave ours alone.

I have no idea why houses in the Uk don't have screens? There are either flies, mosquitos, midges or other flying insects in most parts of the country!!!

I did have a blue zapper light thing once, but it seems to attract them more. As a temporary measure till I do get screens fitted to my windows, I have a lacey scarf drapped across the span. Still lets air in without the wildflife!

What about installing those hanging strips of beads, streamers or a screen to the door?

We have a blue light lantern thing which gets a few but I've resorted to Raiding the little bastards this year!

We have this too, it's quite effective. DD is a tennis player and she has the job of using it when necessary.

This is where the Americans have you beat, they have fly screen pretty much on all doors and windows! Life changer.
