Who knows about apple watches?

I'd like to get my husband one for his birthday, but not sure whether I can get away with an appealingly priced series 3 (200ish) or whether I need to spend double that on a series 5.

He's not hugely techy, and will probably need basic functions and to map the occasional run!

Thoughts?

Thank you 😊

Why not go in the middle and get a 4?

He will need the 42mm one, do not get the smaller-theyre really only suitable for delicate people and kids.

That's useful to know! Thank you, he wouldn't not have appreciated the dainty option. Will have a look at series 4👍🏻

Ah, the 4 seems to have discontinued, which is why I hadn't seen that option

When is his birthday? The 6 will be out in the Autumn (probably end of Sept). If you get a 5 now you'll be paying full price for one year old tech.

Look up on a You Tube the difference between 3 and 5. The screen on the 3 is smaller, screen not always on. I'd rather wait personally and get a 6 (it's my 40th)

I got my 5 on ebay for £300, if that's any help. Not cellular.

Fair warning though: that was after dropping my 4, cracking it, and discovering that since I didn't have applecare or any insurance that'd cover it, I'd be paying something like £330 for a rebuild - bought the new one instead. So get Applecare too.

My dh has a series 5, it's cellular so he can make and receive phone calls, text messages, WhatsApp, Apple Pay etc and access to the internet without having his phone on him which is what he wanted.

It's one of those things that doesn't seem to be worth the money until you get one and then you can't do without it.

I won mine (a series 2) a few years ago. It would have been £300 had I bought it, but I'd never had paid that much for it. But now is not be without one
