Son is obsessed with his grandad

His dad isn't in his life at the moment. He's only 21 months old. He's developed an obsession with his grandad (who we live with) and it's so, so lovely.

I worry that he would be damaged not growing up with that male role model but I realise now that this may be an irrational fear.

Anyone care to tell me any lovely stories re your children and their grandparents, whilst we're here? Smile

I'm female, I grew up without my Dad too, even to this day my Grandad is still my best friend. He's been my biggest inspiration, and I love nothing more than visiting him for a cup of tea and a crossword now. So long as your little one has positive role models in their life, I don't think not having a dad is such a bad thing. I'd much rather have no contact than sporadic and unpredictable. You sound like you're raising such a lovely little boy, you're doing very well. I bet your Dad loves it too!

Since my oldest was two my husband and I shared a house with my parents although we had our own kitchen/bathroom/living room. My kids adored their grandparents.

I grew up living with my Nan and Grandad they were wonderful people and taught me so much. I miss my Grandad constantly he honestly was just amazing he taught me to never give in to anything and I have a million wonderful memories of him.
