Why does racism exist?

I’m not trying to be goady but I was wondering, why does racism exist

I mean, how did it even get started that blacks and other ethnicities were “lesser” than whites?

In the 1800’s when black people were kept as slaves, I can sort of understand it. I mean you were born and raised believe that black people were born to serve you.

But once they gained their rights to not be slaves anymore, how did this attitude keep on going?

Why did segregation keep on happening?

Huge question,no one definitive answer
When people are treated as “other” because of race it’s a hard prejudice to break. The institutional and cultural prejudice seeps into education, welfare, health, justice system and these systems demonise and ostracise whole groups. So as a group more black men are incarcerated, as a group more black are stopped & searched. This Ingrained prejudice is used as demonstrable “proof” that black men are dangerous..as in “look at the amount of them in jail”

In the mental health system you’re more likely to be sectioned and given rapid tranquillisation if you're black

In education black children are more likely to be excluded

This is how racism is reinforced and repeated. Broken systems reinforce Racism
