Stupidly ripped off tag on clothes

I was staying away last night and forgot to pack a pjs . I bought a lovely set in marks and I put on bottoms ( sold as separates ) and perfect fit and I don’t know why but I tore the tag off top assuming the fit would be good . It’s a size 14 and absolutely no way is it . Couldn’t even get it on .

I don’t have any comeback do I as the tag is taken off ? I know I was completely stupid and have never done anything like before

Did you buy them online or in store? If online I’d just thread the tag back on and clamp the elf with a pair or straighteners to stop it coming back off - post them back and I doubt they would care if the tag isn’t attached properly. In store slightly different because they will scan the tag and it might come off, you could however say they were a gift and present the tag loose from the garment, you’ll get a gift card though...

I would still return it and don't mention the tag. If they bring it up say you are returning it as it is faulty due too dodgy size. Compare to other size 14s if necessary.

I paid by cash and gift card . Had a few bits to buy . I am happy to get a bigger size as it’s nice although based on the fact it’s so tight I may need to go up a couple of sizes .

Take the tag with you and say it caught and ripped as you we’re taking the top off.

I took a bras back to M&S just yesterday that I had ripped the tag off when I was wrestling them off those annoying bra hangers. They were a two pack. I took the tag and told the lady what had happened and it was fine.

I’ve also tied a knot in the plastic thing before in a similar situation.

Well I was totally honest and explained and there was no issue at all . They didn’t have them in stock as it was a smaller branch so I got a refund. Lovely customer service

I've taken stuff back with the tag off before, and its not been a problem.
