So hot.
Have stuff to do in garden and the sun has gone in a bit, but what to wear on feet! Wellies are my usual but feet will swell and it will be horrible in this weather. Ditto heavy boots.
any ideas?

I have a pair of garden clogs by my back door, they're ancient but are my garden shoes.

BiblioPogo · 01/08/2020 15:00

Depends what I am doing really. If it is just a bit of a potter about then I wear sandals.
If I’m going to be doing something that would be risky with open toed shoes or a bit more strenuous, I pop on some old running trainers that have a firm sole but breathable top/sides.

Definitely wellies in cooler weather though Smile

Bluntness100 · 01/08/2020 15:02

Depends, crocs if it’s going to get dirty, flip flops if puttering

terracottapot · 01/08/2020 15:03

It depends. A bit of dead-heading: flip flops. Using a strimmer or cutting a prickly hedge: walking boots. Anything in between, probably trainers.

Nacreous · 01/08/2020 15:04

Crocs and socks... Never stylish, but at least plenty of air flow!

Sunnysidegold · 01/08/2020 15:46

I have some gardening rubbery clogs which are hideous but functional. They live by the back door and are used by anyone nipping outside to out bins out etc.

Aquamarine1029 · 01/08/2020 15:52

I wear Crocs. Breathable and great for getting dirty if gardening or taking care of the chickens.

letsgomaths · 01/08/2020 16:25

I wear trainers for most gardening tasks, usually an old but comfy pair, without socks.

CeliaCanth · 01/08/2020 16:27

Gardening clogs. Mine are a cheap eBay pair with tomatoes printed on, and extremely unstylish they are too.

sobersides · 01/08/2020 16:44

White floral gardening clogs and green ones with red chillies on

Candacewasalwaysright · 01/08/2020 19:52

The oldest pair of trainers I have, unless it's been raining, then it's wellies.

StarlightLady · 01/08/2020 20:05

Old sandals. My feet get dirty in them though.

madametomato · 02/08/2020 00:42

Well I wore the wellies as I don’t have clogs or crocs. Not very pleasant!

Might have to buy some crocs!

Trainers in case of frogs - which I am petrified of! Would love to do it in flip flops

BaronessBomburst · 02/08/2020 01:03

Flipflops, unless I'm weeding the ant-infested border. Then it's definitely wellies.

TheSunIsStillShining · 02/08/2020 01:51

grass + good weather=no shoes. (and a yearly 2-3 bee stings between toes)

cakeandchampagne · 02/08/2020 02:01

Old trainers in wet and dry weather.

Doingtheboxerbeat · 02/08/2020 02:16

I actually have a pair of Crocs, from 100 years ago and no garden, it never occurred to me to give them to my DM. She has the worlds worst bunions and can only wear flip-flops , she will love em. Good thinking there @Aquamarine1029.
