What would you think if someone said they drank 1.5 litres of vodka a week?

As in every single week? Tesco sell there own 1.5 litre bottles and this person buys one every weekend to drink about 6 a night.

I'd be worried about them and think they had an alcohol dependency.

DS has had two Polish girlfriends. No 1 could definitely drink a bottle in one night, as if it was quite normal, say Christmas Eve. He kept up with her, and her Polish friends until about 5 am, then he had to stop! However she was a social drinker, not an alcoholic!

At his wedding to No 2 in Poland, I think DS provided a bottle of vodka per Polish guest. The amount of food was phenomenal, over 15 hours. We asked some of the Polish guests, how they could eat so much, and they told us the trick was to keep drinking vodka, as it fooled the brain!

A drunkard, and probably an alcoholic. That's about 60 units, over four times the healthy maximum for a week.

I would think they were an alcoholic. Drinking that amount shouldn't be normalised.

It’s doable. I have certainly done a bottle of gin in a weekend before, but it obviously isn’t advisable and anyone who is consuming that quantity of alcohol on a regular basis has a drink problem.

IncyWincyGrownUp · 31/07/2020 23:03

I would assume functional alcoholism, and would be concerned for their health.

A bottle of vodka per person!!!

HollowTalk · 31/07/2020 23:06

Sorry, that was to @DarkMintChocolate's son!

Reminds me of my university days! Couldn't even have a single nowadays though.

An alcohol problem

Own brand vodka? Someone at my uni coined the term 'shodka' for that- shoddy vodka, essentially paint stripper. If you're getting through one of those on your own, you've got problems and no taste buds.

Yes, there were bottles of vodka every couple of feet, along the long tables - and the staff brought more out, during the 15 hour reception! DDIL told me wedding receptions usually go on for 2 days, but they could only afford from 2.30 pm until 5 am. There had been 3 meals, by the time we went to bed at midnight and apparently more, later!

I could drink a bottle in a night but I definitely don't do it regularly and I would generally be sick. My grandparent was Polish though.

Be worried.
