TMI? I've got a pile...

Too much information - maybe!

I've got a pile (just one I think?)

Bowels moved this afternoon and felt a bit uncomfortable since. Was just getting washed in the shower and I had a little feel and it's definitely there.

Is there anything I can do? It's not painful but I'm aware of its presence IYKWIM.

You need to try and shrink it.

Pop out tomorrow and buy either Anusol or Preperation H. These help to shrink the protruding vein and ease any discomfort.

In the mean time try applying an ice pack to the area to reduce any swelling. I used to use an ice pop wrapped in an old sock - not very glamorous but it did the trick. Just remember to throw the ice pop away afterwards - DO NOT refreeze and offer it to DC in the morning!! Grin Grin

GlassOfFizzPlease · 31/07/2020 21:47

@Fairyfellowsmasterstroke Anusol tomorrow is a good plan! Will go to the pharmacy in the morning.

I don't have an ice pack of any description (or ice pops Grin). Do you think it will be ok just for tonight?

FFS!

You'll be fine tonight.

Just remember to treat it before it blossoms into a full blown bunch of grapes that dangle from your rear end and need surgically excising under a local anaesthetic (no, I'm not bitter)!!

Ime in the first instance you need to name it.
Me and my friend could in this way discuss Harriet (the hemorrhoid) if necessary.

Grin Oh and hers not mine!!
GlassOfFizzPlease · 31/07/2020 22:05

Oh bloody hells bells Grin

Will the anusol make it disappear...? I do hope so...

OP posts:
CormoranStrike · 31/07/2020 22:09

I’ve got a regular returner - no happy!

MissNotMrs · 31/07/2020 22:10

Might not be the same thing but....

Years ago after my heavy baby I had awful pain down there. From memory I'm sure it was piles but the dr literally popped them back in place

I've not felt a thing since . Maybe you can pop them in?

dementedma · 31/07/2020 22:19

Yes to Anusol. Its wonderful. Get the suppositories if you can. Ice will also help a lot, if you can bear it

GlassOfFizzPlease · 31/07/2020 22:29

@Feralkidsatthecampsite she's called Hilary Grin

@CormoranStrike what do you do with it? Assuming you make it go away if it returns?

@MissNotMrs ahem, with my finger, just stick it back up my bum?

Delightful conversation for a Friday night...!

Feralkidsatthecampsite · 31/07/2020 22:31

Hilary is an outstanding name for such an appendage op!!

Rainingopal · 31/07/2020 22:36

My doctors surgery won't even see me about mine! Just tells me to use Anusol. I've used the Germoloids suppositories and they are wonderful. But I was told by a nurse you can't get rid of them unless of course you get them surgically removed. Quite literally a pain in the a@%e.

CormoranStrike · 31/07/2020 22:41

@GlassOfFizzPlease anusil suppositories and trying to increase fibre

MissNotMrs · 31/07/2020 22:45

Well, yes. Push them back up

IncyWincyGrownUp · 31/07/2020 23:05

Get the stuff with hydrocortisone, you need to get it from the pharmacist. Much better than the standard stuff.

GlassOfFizzPlease · 31/07/2020 23:23

Well anusol suppositories and lots of water/fibre it will be come tomorrow!

Fingers crossed Hilary will soon settle herself down Grin

GlassOfFizzPlease · 01/08/2020 21:12

Is this the kind of thread people require an update on? Not entirely sure Grin

Have applied Anusol a few times through the day but still have some discomfort. I tried to, erm, pop Hilary back into her rightful place while in the shower but she's still there.

Will the cream take a few more days? Do I need to be more forceful with putting her back?

Not sure if I'm expecting improvements too quickly but she's a nuisance, like an old friend who's popped round for tea unexpectedly and doesn't know when to go home.

OP posts:
Fairyfellowsmasterstroke · 01/08/2020 22:23

Unfortunately Hilary is rather like a squatter - ie something that is in a place that you don't want it but there's feck all you can actually do to remove it!!!

Suppositories are far better than creams - be persistent and accept that Hilary isn't going anywhere.

You can control her to a certain extent but that bitch aint' going nowhere!!!!!

Flamingolingo · 01/08/2020 22:30

Is it thrombosed? (i.e. is it very painful, and/or hard/lumpy?). If so it’s going to take a while to go down, and even then you might end up with a skin tag type thing. Try to get some anusol HC suppositories to deal with this, it’s genuinely the best thing. I was absolutely plagued by piles during pregnancy and after delivery, not pleasant.

Feralkidsatthecampsite · 01/08/2020 22:35

During pregnancy and post labour I used to keep wipes in the freezer and then wedged in the appropriate place under pants!! Very relieving!

GlassOfFizzPlease · 01/08/2020 23:18

Oh you're all so helpful with the Hilary-related advice! Grin sympathy for those of you who've also felt the pain!

Ok I will get suppositories tomorrow - do I just use them while Hilary is swinging round my backside out where I'd rather she wasn't?

@Flamingolingo yes it feels like quite a hard lump, definite constant discomfort and quite swollen 😣 didn't feel easy when I attempted to put her back earlier 🙄

@Feralkidsatthecampsite that may be the plan for tomorrow!

OP posts:
Flamingolingo · 02/08/2020 06:16

Possibly thrombosed then - it will be quite tender to touch. Not much you can do about that other than wait for it to go down. It’s basically the pile equivalent of a bruise, so you can ice it etc and painkillers if needed, but it will take a few days

GlassOfFizzPlease · 02/08/2020 07:31

@Flamingolingo thanks for that, happy to wait a few days for it to settle, just reassured that it will Smile

Flamingolingo · 02/08/2020 07:45

You could also look at a sitz bath, but to be honest I found just getting in the bath with some lavender and other healing-y things more manageable. Be kind to yourself, and rest.

Sammysquiz · 02/08/2020 08:14

I have a Hilary of my own. I’m afraid to say that if yours is like mine she’ll come back to say Hi at regular intervals Sad

My advice is to keep your shits as soft as can be. Lots of water, fruit & veg. You don’t want to antagonise her by straining, she will be revengeful.
