I can't decide what to do.
I've been working in the same company for 12 years. I'm very exposed to covid in the job despite precautions. Infection rates among staff have been high. Added to which it is a very stressful job anyway and I haven't enjoyed it for years. I've also reached the top as far as my ambitions are concerned. There's no possibility of a different role there that I would be good at or enjoy.
I have been offered a few hours work a week in another organisation. It would pay a fraction of what I get now and without paid holidays and temporary (though small chance it may expand). I could start collecting my tiny occupational pension early so I could scrape by with about half of my normal income but I know I'd enjoy the new work as it's interesting and also quite prestigious.
Should I hand in my notice? It means giving up the long term security of the job I have at the moment and the familiarity of routines and colleagues. It's not that likely I'd build up more temp work or go perm in the new job given my age and the situation.
