If your holiday was cancelled, what did you do instead?

If your holiday was cancelled due to covid19, did you do anything special during the time you should have been away?

We should have been on holiday early April so couldn't do anything at all.

Would have been going to South America in 2 weeks. Luckily we always book a month before we travel, so I didn't have to cancel anything.

I've been WFH the last few months, so have cancelled my block of annual leave, and having long weekends in Aug instead.

DP and I have a 15 and 20yr old back from uni, so will probably be spending long weekends having garden BBQ's for the 4 of us, maybe focusing on different food theme nights.

I am desperate to get away, but we are going to stay home and get some bits done to the house.

Already browsing holiday destinations for next year......

We had a Greek islands cruise booked for May and a Baltic cruise booked for july , both were cancelled so we went to Devon for 4 nights instead which was fabulous. We're also going to Greece in September. We've saved about 12k and have bought a new sofa set and lots of other things for the house. It's certain!y made me rethink how much we were spending on holidays.

Due to other circumstances we hadn't booked our holiday, we were going to do it early March for the last two weeks in August, but when we saw Covid developing we decided against it.
We still have the those two weeks off work so we will probably do a few day trips, possibly catch up with family - so many birthdays have been missed. Neither DP or I feel like going away in the UK either but we'll hopefully book something for next year.

We used the money to buy a sofa, furniture and carpets.

Done up the gardens/shed/bedrooms instead and we are going to Norfolk for 4 nights instead !

Missed trip to France to visit terminally ill friend ( please hang on!), short break to Warsaw, work trips to Outer Hebrides and Orkney and all family visitors for my mothers 85th birthday cancelled. It has been a shit time.

We were meant to be in Sitges for the first week of the summer holidays, we had a couple of low key days out instead and did our usual school holiday type activities.

In August I was meant to be playing in the Bingham Cup in Ottawa, I was gutted when that was cancelled.

I decided to book a cottage in the forest of dean starting tomorrow, but my boyfriend has been given a much needed surgery date and its on Tuesday. So he has to fly out on Monday and I have no idea when he will be fit to fly back.

Holidays hate us! So now on Monday after I have dropped him at the airport we’re going to stay with my sons Grandma for a few days.

Dc were going on scout camp together last week so dh are were going away for the first time on our own. Then we were all going to America for the first time, for 3 weeks, to visit family.

Instead we bought a projector and screen to watch films in the garden and are off camping for the weekend. No way near equal to our planned trips but hey ho...

Our skiing trip to Canada was cancelled in April. We did nothing and tried not to think about what we were missing. It was going to be epic 😢 that’s the only way to describe it. We’re still waiting for the refund from Lufthansa too 😡.

We were supposed to be going to Ireland in May but only for the weekend. Easy Jet refunded that easily enough.

Our holiday to Turkey in October half term has already been cancelled. We tried to book something in this country but everything’s either booked up or more expensive than the all inclusive holiday to Turkey. Centre Parcs wanted nearly £2500 for a week’s self catering 🙈. The weather will be crap in October too so we’d probably end up stuck inside the whole time.
