Best Poached Eggs Method Without A Pan

I bought a microwave maker but DD tried it & the egg was like a bullet! Poached eggs are one of my all time comfort foods but I don’t know a good way to make them without a poaching pan. Vinegar rings a bell!

Unlike other so-called “poachers” / “poaching“ moulds which in fact steam rather than poach the egg, these make proper poached eggs. Poachies also work but are expensive in comparison as they’re disposable.

My poached eggs would win no prizes in a beauty contest but they taste great. I do them in a small frying pan. Very fresh eggs, as others have said. Barely simmering water, little drop of vinegar added, I also add a little salt. Crack egg over the water as gently and carefully as possible, keeping heat very low, cook for a very short time, conveniently about the time it takes to make toast in our toaster and butter it. Remove one egg at a time with fish slice, holding above pan for a few seconds to let excess water run off, place on hot buttered toast, grind on some pepper (I also grind on some salt, I love salt), eat immediately. Lovely.
