Broken down car

Subeccoo · 30/07/2020 14:56

I'm waiting on the AA. Have just returned to my car where it has been sat for a few days.
It starts, it goes in gear, but that's it, doesn't move. It revs.
Wtf is wrong with it?!?
It's a black car and it's 26 degrees where I am, kill me now 😞🚙

Handbrake stuck on maybe? Does it act like it wants to move but doesn't?

ChangeThePassword · 30/07/2020 15:00

Hope you have water, and they don't take long.

Subeccoo · 30/07/2020 15:01

No it literally sounds fine, there's no struggle, it just runs smoothly and is quite happy sitting here 😣
Forgot to say though, the person whose house it is outside has been out to have a go at me for parking it here, that went well for her. It's a public road for crying out loud

Thanks, ds 15 was with me and we're near shops so he went to buy water and crisps and a crap magazine!

Oh I bet you'd get much more response if you'd led with someone having a go at you got parking on the road outside your house!

I'm sure your use of mumsnet came in useful when they decided to have a go! Grin

It sounds like something to do with the clutch .

moklty · 30/07/2020 15:06

Your clutch has gone

Longdistance · 30/07/2020 15:07

Have you pumped the clutch a few times?

Neilsfavouritechilli · 30/07/2020 15:08

Sounds like mine when my clutch finally conked out.

Subeccoo · 30/07/2020 15:13

I agree it sounds a bit clutchy. Would it be running smoothly, not making noise when I change gear if it was the clutch? I've had clutch probs with much older cars (this is a 2016 plate) and I remember them being very noisy

It sounds like the driveshaft has gone, if it goes into gear okay then won't move that's what it sounds like to me.

Subeccoo · 30/07/2020 17:38

Well as soon as he got there, it bloody moved!!!
Just like when you call the IT people at work.

He said it was a stuck handbrake, typical.

But no cost for any repairs so phew!

Oooh I guessed right!

Anyone else need some car advice? Just keep reading...

My advice is...

Ask a mechanic Wink

Glad it wasn't anything more expensive.

Subeccoo · 30/07/2020 19:03

Me too, holiday next week, was dreading a repair bill on top of that!!
