How to stop my lap overheating

I've been working from home (in a very full house) since March - like many of us. We've got working spaces, but not enough for us all to work at a table all the time (as sometimes we are on calls in echoey rooms etc.)

As such, I've been doing a lot of working from my lap, on my bed or on the sofa etc.

Today (and tomorrow judging by the weather forecast) are unbearable. My laptop is boiling hot on my skin when I have it on my lap.

I've seen on amazon a few laptop trays, tables etc for around £40ish, which seems like a good price for me, but I'm worried that the padded ones will also either overheat me, or they will be too big to comfortable fit on my lap. Could I ask you to please recommend to me what you use?

www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0164R64Y8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_GMSiFbARRY8MG?tag=mumsnetforu03-21 something similar to this which then sits on a tray on my lap. Stops the laptop overheating

You can get ones with USB-powered fans, which you could use alone, or on top of a mini table one like in the previous post.

Google something like "ventilated laptop stand".

You need to have it on a flat surface to slow air flow underneath. By putting it on your lap, or duvet etc the material covers the vents on the bottom of the laptop.

A cushioned tray should work cheaply.

A tray, from the kitchen! or even a folder or hardback book.

Thanks all. Do the cushions on your trays make your laps hot? My thighs feel horrible at the moment.

I'm off to dig out a tray.
