Any dessert ideas?

I want to make a dessert for DP for when he gets home later but as it's a last minute decision stuck on what to do!

It needs to be red and white, preferably in layers or stripes.

I don't have any gelatine, otherwise I would do a panna cotta with a raspberry layer.

I do have raspberries and strawberries. And yoghurt and milk. And white chocolate. And most other baking ingredients except gelatine.

Any ideas please?

Mary Berry's white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake.

Eton Mess.

Passion pudding. 50/50 mix of yoghurt and cream (whip it a bit), layer with fruit. Top sprinkle of dark sugar.

Thank you!

Brentford fan @Addler 😊?

Addler · 29/07/2020 21:52

@SingingBabooshkaBadly Blush Yes he is! I'm not actually a football fan at all, I'm more of a rugby person myself (being from NZ), but DP has a season ticket and it's the last game at Griffin Park so blah blah blah I will make him something to celebrate.

Last week for the last actual game of the season I made cupcakes, and then DP artfully arranged them like this and declared 'don't the flowers go perfectly!'... the flowers he got me for our anniversary Hmm

Any dessert ideas?

Too late for tonight but I would have done a neatly layered Eton Mess.

@Addler - those are seriously impressive! Are you a professional cake baker? I’d better not show DH, who is a fan of both Brentford and cake. Don’t want him feeling hard done by. Question now of course is, what will you do for big Wembley match next week? You’ve set the bar a bit high!

Addler · 29/07/2020 23:36

@SingingBabooshkaBadly Just a hobby baker who likes a lot of cake, but thank you! Maybe I'll have to do as @TheFlis12345 says and make Eton mess?!

I am good to him, considering the first birthday present he ever got me was a Brentford shirt Hmm Granted we had only been seeing each other a few weeks, but he has improved immensely in present buying since then!

@Addler Hope DP enjoys the Eton Mess and the match goes Brentford’s way. DH is currently trying to distract himself by nervously re-alphabetising all his old vinyl...

Addler · 04/08/2020 19:37

@SingingBabooshkaBadly Thank you! I also made red velvet cheesecake brownies to bring to his friend's house to watch, but they're all so nervous they're just sitting on the sofa stressing while me and another partner are scoffing the brownies. I've never seen a sofa full of such nervous men before!

Oh dear...

Such a disappointing way to go out, I'm very sad for them. Stupid pregnancy hormones, I don't even like football!
