Neighbour exercising outside at 10.30pm to 11pm

Loudly. He is very serious about his exercise, he groans loudly, and yells when he smacks himself accidentally with the skipping rope. Asking nicely has not helped the situation. It keeps dc awake, as is right outside their room. They have a back garden they could use, and a front garden but choose to skip outside the two adjoining houses. It's entertaining when the rope smacks him but he complains if we look at him and tells dc to close the curtains.

Can we do anything?

Dob him into his parents.

StormTreader · 29/07/2020 18:20

Shout to your DH when he goes out "Gerald, its starting! Bring the snacks!"
Yell comments "you're slowing down, put your back into it! Pick your feet up!"
Play amusing workout music, maybe the magic roundabout theme tune.

The key thing is to make sure that he knows for a fact that people are laughing at him.

Bananaman123 · 29/07/2020 18:27

What an eegit, this made me laugh. Go sit outside every night and watch him, he will soon use his garden. Some neighbours are twats eh

@CourtneyLurve

Put motion detector spotlights up?
Yes and a camera that zooms in on him loudly. Then shout commentary from your windows.
HeronLanyon · 29/07/2020 18:32

He’s living with his parents - well
He’s acting like a selfish child so if I were you I’d go speak to them.

Tell him the most effective time to exercise for men is in the morning when testosterone is at its highest!
My twat of a ndn has built a full on gym in his spare room which would be fine if it wasn't through the wall from my bedroom in our tiny terraced houseHmm. Likes to do heavy weights and drop them on the floor at 11pm every night. So many dick head selfish men around.

LillianBland · 29/07/2020 19:33

Why are people saying he can do what he likes in a public park? It’s not a park. It’s on the road, outside the OP’s house.

Babysharkdoodoodood · 29/07/2020 19:35

Play Double Dutch loudly.

Better still teach your kids to do it outside his window

HeronLanyon · 29/07/2020 23:28

lillian Park references were replying to poster Above who described manic exercising going on in her park - not op.

Oh sorry. I was confused. Thank you.
DeltaFlyer · 30/07/2020 05:23

Yes to speaking to his parents. I wonder if they have said no to him doing it in the garden as it disturbs them though

skippedtodistraction · 30/07/2020 09:06

His parents don't care.

He got annoyed last night as dc sat at the window and enjoyed the show. He shouted at them to close the curtains but they refused.

Op this is starting to be anti social behaviour. Shouting at children in their home because you are causing a nuisance. Do you have community police/safer neighbourhoods type first port of call ?

Rockbird · 30/07/2020 09:38

Exercise in a park is fine, assuming you're not naked. Martial arts or aerobics, it's all exercise. I don't think he was the twat.

StormTreader · 30/07/2020 10:12

ITS NOT IN A PARK

FlamingoAndJohn · 30/07/2020 10:17

So he is doing this n his front garden?
It’s like he wants the whole street to look.

skippedtodistraction · 30/07/2020 10:25

He's doing it in the street outside in front of mine and another neighbours front gardens. He has a front garden and back garden where he could do his exercise. Maybe he likes to do it on the tarmac instead of the grass.

I absolutely feel your pain. My neighbour (also in his 20's and lives with parents) has set up a gym in his front garden! He has weights, skipping, a bike and a sit up bench. He struts around looking at himself in the windows and the noises are unbelievable. Honestly though, it's comedy gold and he also gets cross if he sees people watching him.

FredWinnie · 30/07/2020 10:32

Tlollj
some sort of martial art bullshit all on his own

Possibly a kata - they require space.
And honestly? So what if he was?
Good for him
Better doing "martial arts bullshit" than doing nothing

Doingitaloneandproud · 30/07/2020 10:39

Wow, comments on someone exercising in a park, At least he's doing something Hmm

As for the neighbour, he can't yell at you not to look out the window, if he doesn't want you to look he can simply move his set up Confused

Shizzlestix · 30/07/2020 12:11

Tbh, skipping is easier on tarmac than grass, ime. I’m puzzled as to why he thinks he can tell your dc to close the curtains when he’s doing this in a public arena.

cstaff · 30/07/2020 12:21

Just get your kids to keep it up every night. Him getting wound up will be comedy gold. Maybe the neighbours will join you for his show every night. If that doesn't drive him away nothing will.

Katinski · 30/07/2020 12:25

The popcorn idea is pure goldGrin

NameXForThis · 30/07/2020 12:36

Get the kids to echo every grunt, groan, yell and gasp - I think it'd be hilarious!
