Tens machines

Has anyone used a tens machine for regular stomach cramps? If so did it work ? Which one did you use?
I normally take strong painkillers from the doctors but I am wanting to reduce these.
Thank you

Have you ever touched an electric fence? That’s what a tens machine feels like. Like a jag of a needle. Repeatedly. Gentle or sore depending on what strength you dial up to.

Didn’t help me.

I found acupuncture much better at sorting the period problems I had. It’s £50 a go up here and I go once a month and really feel much better. It fixed things GPs can’t fix or can only fix with pills. I didn’t want pills or hormones as I worry about taking medicines. If you have the money I’d recommend it.

Thank you for that, I've never used a tens machine. I've had acupuncture and felt like it didn't help much longer than the day I had it.

That’s a shame you didn’t get much benefit from the acupuncture. Was it an actual acupuncturist who did it or a gp that had ‘done a course’?

I would recommend a proper therapist who does it all the time and is a member of the professional body. You can put in your postcode online and find therapists near you.

Sometimes treatments take more than one go to have the desired effect. I did a good few at first and go regularly. I feel the best I’ve felt in decades.

If the results didn’t hold it could have been because the therapist was shit (you get good joiners and bad ones, good drivers and bad ones, good acupuncturists and bad ones - all qualified, it’s just the way life is)
or
because you had many issues that were needing fixed and all are needing addressed. It’s not supposed to be a paracetamol that wears off. But if he/she only treated the surface symptoms and didn’t solve the underlying problems then you wouldnt benefit as much.

I hope you remain open to trying with another therapist as you are in pain and it’s horrible for you.
