Lockdown has made us totally reevaluate what we want and need from where we live. We realised we enjoy spending much more time at home and do not need the proximity of shops, restaurants and cafes. We have really not missed it at all (to the point where we still haven't been since the easing - not through fear but lack of desire).
The belief we needed to be near all those things was the only thing stopping us from moving closer to my family in Cumbria, however with the realisation that we actually don't need those things on our doorstep we have once again considered it. Particularity as some of our close friends have moved further away, we don't have the social network we once did.
So how hard is it to move area? I have a job I can do almost anywhere I just need to wait for a vacancy (and I've already seen some) and DH also has a job he can do anywhere though pay is slightly higher in the big cities.
If we moved, I would want to be very close to my family e.g. same large village/ 15 minute drive (currently 1hr 30 from them).
My concerns are getting DS (4) in to school. DC2 is 1 so not so much of an issue. We would also be further away from PIL but as they are also considering moving (further away) I'm not overly concerned about that.
We currently have no family closer than 1 hour + away.
