Morning! I’m not sure what’s going on with my sons (age 5) upper lip.
He woke up yesterday morning, ate his early morning snack (Cheerios) wide awake with his older brothers and then came to me to say that his lip was sore and had a spot.
All our family are on daily antihistamines as we have various allergies and foods that we’re sensitive to/can’t eat. so feeling itchy and getting rashes is pretty normal in our house.
I couldn’t really see in the dim light (5am, curtains shut) so gave him his antihistamine and popped some savlon on and thought nothing more of it except to that we’d now be cutting Cheerios out for a while
When I got a proper look at a bit later I realised it was a cluster of small pustules and they didn’t look like allergy reaction.
By dinner time the cluster had dried out into a scaley, brown patch and still looks like that this morning, maybe more darker? He definitely keeps trying to scratch it. Sorry for the shite third pic he was wearing lipstick, applied with a cotton bud.
DH thinks that side of his upper lip looks swollen but I’m not sure as he’s puffy from hay fever. The only reason I’m considering that it could be a cold sore is that this is maybe the second or third time he’s had a a lump or spot on or near his lip in the last 9 months but it always clears up within 48/72hrs. I’m off to buy some cold sore cream but wondered if anyone had any thoughts.
