Plastic teeth retainer covered in few bits of mould - what do I do?

Ortho Retainer I wear at night for 3+ years to keep my teeth straight has tiny flakes of brown and black in hard to reach areas. I tried to brush it off but it seems stuck on and is hard to reach. Brushing too forcefully just seems to damage the retainer.

I put it in retainer brite cleaning solution once a week or so and wash it every morning and then leave it in its box.

I can’t afford to get a new pair as they’re very expensive.

Any suggestions please?

Hydrogen peroxide from the chemist?

Or prise them off gently with a cocktail stick?

Brushing mine caused me to have oral thrush. I now leave them in a cup of steradent during the day - usually about once a week they get left in sterilising liquid. But as Beanbag suggests, priding them off with a cocktail stick - then a good soak would be good.
