Delay in Positive Pregnancy test - bad sign?

Hi
I took a preg test at 2 days late which was negative. Then my doc tested at 3 days late and was negative. At 6 days I was starting to worry that something wasn't right with me as I am always 28 days to the day. So I took another test and this time it was positive! The line was faint but clear, I took the 2nd one in the box the day after and it was positive again and had a darker line. So effectively I am pregnant and really happy but also slightly worried because I'm concerned that the delay may mean things aren't progressing as they should and I may miscarry. Has anyone had this experience and then had a healthy pregnancy? Thanks x

Not me but my friend took 4 pregnancy tests at home and they were all negative. Her normally on time period was late and she’d been ttc. She went to the doctors who did bloods and she was 6 weeks pregnant. No idea why the tests came back as negative but now she has a very lively 11 month so it all worked out fine for her.

Oh and just wanted to say it could have been the test or it could have been your urine was diluted or any number of reasons but I really wouldn’t worry, I’d just put it down to one of them

It might be that you ovulated a week later than you normally do for some reason. So if you ovulated a week later it would make sense that it would take a week more to get a positive test.

Not necessarily. My 14 year old started off as a negative test and my mum told me I did too.

I took my first pregnancy test with my first baby when my period was about 3 days late, it was negative. Another a few days later, still negative. Went on holiday for 2 weeks, drank like a fish. Came home and took ANOTHER test a week later and it was positive. I only took the last test because I’d had an ovarian cyst which turned out to be pre-cancerous, I took the test in the evening planning to get an doctors appointment to discuss the next day and knew they would ask if I was pregnant. A blood test a few days later confirmed I was about 8 weeks pregnant.

She’s now 6 and has spent all day playing minecraft (we’re at THAT point of lockdown/the holidays, don’t @ me!)

Hi

I am also always 28 days to the day and didn't test positive with DC2 until I was 6 days late and it was the faintest line!
I didn't get a really dark positive until I was 9 days late.

I also worried it was some kind bad sign/meant the pregnancy wasn't strong enough but I'm now 35 weeks so all was fine 😊 midwife said it doesn't mean anything as I remember asking her at the time. She told me she once had a lady pregnant with twins who never got a positive test at all!

Thank you all of you for reassuring me. I suffered a missed miscarriage before my little boy was born (now 3) and I found out at 12 week scan, so I can't help but have my gaurd up. But your posts have given me hope! Thank you xxx

With DD2 I took a pregnancy test 4 days after my period was due and it came back negative. I think it took a further week to get a positive test.

@Nic0lajane I'm 5 days late and all my tests were negative. I will try to wait another week and see what happens. I really want my BFP 😰

I didn't get a positive get until I was 2 days late, but felt absolutely awful - horrible nausea and headaches and exhaustion from 5 dpo. I was sure I was pregnant, but tests were all negative. All fine, very straightforward pregnancy, and he's 2 now and fallen asleep on the sofa while I'm cooking dinner.

I'm 12 days late and I just got a bfp!! I got a negative yesterday so strange! 1-2 weeks.

I did end up having a chemical pregnancy unfortunately.
