Stone in 11 year old's ear

Getting a bit worried. Ds got a stone in his ear from a pebble beach last Tuesday.

Long story short involving minor injuries unit, GP, A&E and three unsuccessful attempts to remove it, I chased up the referral from A&E to ENT to be informed that it 'hasn't been received'.

Have gone back to A&E and asked to resend the referral, but am getting a bit worried as the stone has now been in his ear canal for nearly a week. It's not bothering him particularly, although hurts when he hiccups he says and he can't hear as well, but a week seems a long time of phoning/going to clinics with no concrete plan in place to have it removed.

Anyone else's child had anything similar? Stories of objects that weren't removed for some time with no complications especially gratefully received.

TIA.

My son has a stone in his ear for weeks as the gp counldnt see it. My ds does have very waxy ears though. When he started complaining of pain when he coughed or yawned I phoned ent directly. But he had seen them in the past for hearing tests. They got him in withing a couple of days and managed to suction it out

Keep badgering them OP

My ds put a tiny stone in his ear when he was 3 and he had surgery to have it removed (nothing else worked). They were v keen to get it out.

Any foreign body in a nice warm ear canal isn't ideal.

Hope it gets sorted soon

I'm very keen to get it out!

I called the ENT dept again just before they closed and still no referral. Called A&E who were meant to have referred and they took my number saying that someone would call me back.

Haven't as yet... seriously, what do I do? Do I call the GP tomorrow and say that even if it takes weeks for a referral, at least it will be in the pipeline?
