Bleeding at 30 weeks pregnant

Hi I’m 30 weeks pregnant and had a lot of bleeding a few days ago, I had been feeling a bit uncomfortable but had no stomach pains or that so got quite a fright! I was told I had a low lying placenta at 20 weeks so the hospital thought it might’ve had something to do with that but they checked and it’s moved, the baby’s heartbeat was healthy and everything looked good on the scan. I was even kept in for observation and was told everything was fine but I still feel so anxious about it all 😔 has anyone else experienced anything similar? I’m still getting some brown discharge and just feel a bit sore, with the odd shooting pain. Not sure if I’m just being para now!

Ring your midwife unit if you’re feeling unsure or anxious. They’re there to help and won’t mind if you need to go for a quick checkup

Don’t feel like you have to wait for your standard midwife appointment. Just ring the unit.

They may have been mistaken that the placenta has moved?
I had a low placenta and had first bleed at 29 weeks. It happened again at 30 and 32 weeks. It can be very serious.. Ring the unit and insist on being seen again.

If you're still concerned and you're having any pains with the bleeding then you should call the hospital back.

In rare cases bleeding and accompanying pain can be a sign of a placental abruption which can be extremely serious.

Never feel bad for contacting your midwife/hospital they'd much rather you called and it was nothing than you didn't call and something was missed.

Later on than you, I had some bleeding at 34 weeks. Went in in the middle of the night and I was given steroids and kept in for obs as I was contracting. Sent home the next day, but then monitored weekly with scans. Another bleed at 36 weeks so was induced. This was Dc3 though, and I’d also had a mmc the previous pg, so it was likely my placenta was starting to come away. If this is your first pg, please follow this up, for reassurance. It may be nothing, but at this stage you need to follow your instincts.

Thanks everyone. It happened again so back in for observation, baby is good which is the main thing. They said it could just be because the placenta was low lying and still don’t seem to be too concerned. If it happens again then that may change things....
