Mismatched kitchen cabinets

We’re doing our kitchen up and have decided to go for navy blue cabinets with a white quartz worktop, either from Howdens or Wickes dependent on the quote.

I keep seeing on Pinterest/design mags navy base units/islands paired with white overhead cupboards. I think it makes it all look a lighter/ balanced especially with white walls. Our kitchen isn’t huge!

DH isn’t convinced and thinks mismatched units will look odd- has anyone gone this/got this? Any other views?! TIA :)

It won't look odd but it may look ”last years” style very quickly as opposed to the classic styles.

I think it looks lovely I've seen lots like that in posh films et cetera. But please please please do not go to wicks their cupboards are so shoddy and flimsy. Wren or Howden's are good quality

Ah thank you! We’ve gone back thru theHowdens catalogue and they actually suggest pairing statement under cabinets with white or grey overhead. The Howdens navy is very dark which I like but I think pairing it with an ivory overhead and matching the wall colour to that will open it all up. DH is more convinced it’s ‘a thing’ now I’ve pointed out the pages in the catalogue that do it

We’ve got grey lower cupboards and white upper cupboards

We've got very pale grey at the bottom and white wall cupboards both matte handleless. We had them installed 5 years ago. Everyone comments on how good it looks.
