Restricted Driving Licence - help!

I have a 3 year driving licence because of a medical condition. It's renewal time and I can't work out if I need to send my current one back. Does anyone know? I think I probably do but I don't want to be without it if I don't.

You can renew online, if you go to the DVLA website there’s a menu item “renew medical short term license.

I can't Rainbow. It's only for certain conditions and mine isn't included. The online guidance doesn't say either unless I missed that.

Nobody will know, because as you have pointed out, it's not the same for everyone. It is bound to tell you somewhere if you need to send it back.

According to the hubster he never has. 3yr restriction for Type 1 Diabetes.

I have a one year licence and they send me a letter every year. I usually just have to ask my doctor to sign it but this year I had to go for an examination. I do t have to send it back and I could still drive in between it expiring and seeing the doctor.

Mine is for Bipolar.

Thanks Milly and Yippee. Opinion divided but if Milly's DH gets away with not sending it back that's probably what I will do.

Mine is MS btw.

I also have MS, gave me a 3 yrs dx when I was first dx, then when they renewed it I was issued with a 5 year licence, from what I can remember I didn’t need to return it, I think I just had to cut it up.
