Let me start this off ......

I knew I was a grown up when I realised that I had a range of envelopes from which to choose from 🙈 xxxx

What made you think you'd actually made it to be an actual 'grown up'?

When the parents started dying and worse when two friends died.
On a lighter note, enjoying buying toilet cleaner with a nice smell- Ecover in case you wondered

When I was happy to let ds lick the bowl after baking and didn't need to join in. Seeing the smile on his face when he tucked into the mix made me feel like a proper mum and adult.

Late 40s and still waiting for that magical moment.....

On a sad note- needing to manage a grieving father during and after mam died of cancer. He said on more than one occasion ' You'll know better...'. Being the youngest of 5 that hit me that he saw me as having with knowledge and stability ( not that the others don't!).

On a lighter note, when 4 best mates (who have partied hard) had a full 20 minute conversation about which school shirts are the best, including washing tips.Blush

Sewing mittens onto string into DS's coat and when he first reached for my hand as we were walking 💖

Geraniumblue · 25/07/2020 21:24

You’ve reminded me of the time when I was walking in between my mother and dd and they both reached for one of my hands to hold when it came to a road.

Serious growing up happened running a business with DH, having DC, writing MIL's eulogy.
Also, having a Brexit cupboard which we could dip into during lockdown.

Things like not eating my crusts, swearing and scraping the cake mix bowl, for me, they are the true joys of being an adult. I can do those things and not get told off Grin.

When I told my father that his father had died.

When I bought a double retractable washing line for the garden and was unnaturally excited about it. I still get a wave of grown upness the first time each year I manage to get the washing out in the first appropriate sunny day of the year.

When I spent an hour going through every page of the women’s sale on the M&S website and then bought myself a pair of jeans.

Being made power of attorney for my mum, she has secondary breast cancer in her bones and is getting her affairs in order. Having discussions with her about what charities she wants to donate money to, she hasn’t specified it in her will and I’m pretty sure it’s because my brother, in his 40s, still borrows money from her on a fairly regular basis, she wants to leave money to charity but also wants to make sure we’re ok.

Whoever mentioned the Shark hoover, I’m the same! Between the shark and my cordless iron I’m disturbingly domesticated.

When I wrote three sympathy cards in the space of two weeks

When I didn't lob a heavy stick at a conker tree in September/October.

Driving on the motorway for the first time.

Booking a holiday for the first time.
